Well... she's given me some great PS #'s- yesterday morning it was 165 but her last low shot had her spending the day higher than the PS so I felt it safe to shoot the full dose (plus I was home most of the day to keep an eye on her).

Running out of time, so I shall post later at work.

Now that i have some time to think...

She has been giving me more blues and they have been during the day as well as night. I'll increase again tonight as she has been on this dose long enough and this morning PS was lower than most of the others. I would have said it was the LOWEST!!! except for the 165 yesterday that blew all other lows out of the water  . Maybe I'm finally getting close to her dose nailbite_smile .

The vet should have sent off the blood work Monday morning, so I hope to get some results back this week or early next week nailbite_smile nailbite_smile . Lots of time to be nervous, I guess. We see the signs but don't always want to know it really is the reason. But I believe I can handle it. A few tears, extra petting for Sneakers, and buying insulin by the (almost) bucketload  .

I'll have to see if it is consistent, but she seems to be eating less again. I think/say that and then she goes higher- always keeps me guessing! I guess she figures my life is dull and decides to spice it up any which way she can. We had a late afternoon thunderstorm where she hid by the couch for a few hours, hit right around 3 and she didn't care to eat at all until it was over (around 5:30- shot time!). So yesterday her intake was about 9oz, 10-12 is her usual.

At least you still have your sense of humor!

I really and truly do not mean to dismiss your concerns, but I would take acro/IAA any day over adenocarcinoma. So, I guess, I am saying that as much as you do not want to hear this news, you can handle it and it could be worse.

There are so many people here that can help you learn to manage this "new" situation. You are in good hands with them.

It does look like you are getting nearer to a working dose.

I know that, I read about Jeddie and cry. It's so unfair.

I've been contacted by a few over in acro/iaa/cushings, (I think they are preparing my mail slot # .) At least I will know.

Glad the bloddwork is good!
not sure about the BUN, but at least it is in normal range
Hang in there....
I know you will be waiting impatiently for the answer, I will pray for the 2 of you!

She let me use the furminator for about 2 minutes, so got a handful of hair. Plan to do a little each day to get her used to it- like testing :-D . Maybe treats will work on that, too  .

BUN is one of the kidney level tests (the other was in normal range). Her last test showed that it was slightly elevated. My previous vet didn't even mention we needed to check on her kidney function at all especially since we really don't know when she was diagnosed. And I was too new to understand it needed to be done.

Just wanted to stop by and say Happy Birthday, Heather.

Sneakers says thanks! We celebrated by going to 7u.

As her last momma didn't know when, just sometime in June, she's 17 now and enjoys lying on the floor where it is cool.

Well, Happy Birthday, Sneakers! Glad the bloodwork came back good :-D

I know what you mean about being too new to know what should be checked. You may have seen where I mentioned that a vet friend asked me if they ran a urinalysis on Hershey when he was diagnosed in Nov. I have no idea, but don't think so. I didn't know I should've asked about one...at that point I didn't even know cats could GET diabetes! :YMSIGH: I truly learn something new almost every day

Wishing you a great day and GREAT numbers!

Libby (and Hershey, too!)
