Sneakers just caught a bird  !

We have the AC guy in to service and the front door is open so Sneakers has been hanging out in the doorway. Just now I heard panicked chirping and went out and Sneakers had caught an almost grown robin! He had its whole head in her mouth :o and was trying to swallow it whole, apparently  . When I lifted her up a little to figure out if the neck was broken it slipped out and flew off- grateful to be free.

Since she hasn't been out much most of the last year and hunting they have gotten lax about watching out  .

Her numbers are creeping up again, last night was spent around 330's- ALL night long, so I upped her dose to 4.25u. Since I am close I figured that would be better. I started alternating feeding a new FF food but it is the same carb % as her old one so that shouldn't be the cause of the change.

Yeah, I always try and save the bird, but it is what they are programmed to do. And their are lots of robins.

The food should be fine if it has the same carbs. My guys get three different "flavors" of food all with similar carb counts.

I don't mind her eating the birds.. or squirrels... or bunnies... I drew the line at the turtle she tried bringing into the house alive.

She brings everything into the house and then kills it.

If she had killed the bird she would have gotten it but she didn't kill it and was trying to stuff it down her throat whole and alive  .

I was just grateful she felt the need to hunt and got a chance to do it  .

Hey, she was a little out of practice. Except for those mice in December (all she had to do was wait for them to come out of the hole- lazy kitty!) this was the only hunting she's done since her wet food change and insulin.

My, her tail was flashing back and forth  !

I love the "mad" tail!

Leanne hunts my fingers at night (under the covers). She ounces and dives. It's so funny to watch. Well, I probably shouldn't laugh.

And before I got Beau, my two cats loved to play with the feathers on a string - the one with the fishing lure thing so it spins? The feathers actually make "wing noises" as they are pulled through the air. I thought it would be a good idea to play with that toy when I brought Beau to my Chicago apt (he was a feral I caught in the woods in MI) so they would all learn to get along together. Bad idea. He went totally berserk, leapt 5 feet in the air and caught it and held it for all his life in his jaws growling. It was all I could do to get it away from him. We could not play that game for years until he knew it was only a game.
