Okay, finally updated her chart- working late and doing homework papers are my stock in trade for the next few weeks  .

Sneakers, sneakers... Her larger numbers I can account for- turkey feeding mostly- low carbs on the box but they apparently have SODIUM out the wazoo! I finally had to take it to work so I could eat a turkey sandwich in peace :-D .

The two latest reds are me getting home late and poor Sneakers not getting her food fix on time  . I leave extra food in the feeder but if I leave 3 oz out she will eat 3 oz in a short time and then wait... and wait... and then complain when I get home that she is STARVING!!! She's got another two nights of a late night. I'll get home at shot time and that is it.

She still gets mirilax 2x/day- every time I skip a morning or evening dose she has little poops instead of long ones. She likes to go out and sit on the porch- so I think she is starting to feel better a little.

And lastly- I got two cases of 3% carb- ocean whitefish and tuna and beef something from FF. Her bg is higher because of it- usually when I feed her and test in an hour- like evening if I get home later. I will let that settle for a week- just like a new dose- then see if I need to raise the dose or change her carbs back to lower ones. And she gets the raw chicken- about 4-5 oz per day, depending on how late I am. If I put it in her feeder she has a greater chance of eating all of it because she's hungry.

Oh well, back to blood borne pathogens :-D .

"blood borne pathogens" - is that your homework? (I hope!).

3% carbs should be ok, and sodium shouldn't effect BGs (still - not a good thing to feed them regularly).

And when are you planning for the next dose increase? Looks like you have been on 3u for 5 full days. Can you get a few more spot checks during the cycle tomorrow? After that you could increase to 3.5u.

During the week days I can't- I need to set my alarm to ring every hour or two for the evenings to get PM spots. Usually I am caught up in homework (bloodborne pathogens is my next paper topic) and am doing good to get her the shot  .

Only a few more weeks and then I've got the summer free :-D :-D :-D and I can get rid of my junk, sort my house, landscape the yard, and work on getting Sneakers into pretty blues and greens  .

I was wondering about the dose- should I raise it even though I know the higher bg is carb related? If so Then I can increase tonight to 3.5u. I don't like those reds and her ketones went from less than a trace to almost small- so now may be a good time to do it.

I did increase to 3.5u- her 1st cycle was YELLOW all the way through. Her pink +12 was food related as she was fed at 1oz @ 5:30 (got a fasting bg), another at 6 and a 3rd at 6:30. She gets 3 oz in the morning, 3 oz at night- both spread out across 1-2 hours, and I usually leave 4 oz in the feeder except on late nights when I leave 6 oz. 10-12 oz as opposed to 18-20- coming down :-D .

When I get out of school and switch her back to a 6/6 cycle it will be easier to keep her from food for 30 minutes rather than 1 1/2 hours as she is persistent .

So frustrated  - got home and the feeder hadn't opened so Sneakers didn't have any food all day besides the 3 oz I left on her plate this morning ! It's a good thing she has been eating less.

But, her number wasn't that bad for it- I thought it would be through the roof but it was 252- unbelieveable!

I linked to amazon through shop and purchased a petsafe5 for my girl- and then found out that I already had a $50 credit for returning a class book so it was basically free :-D .

Not having food available should make her BG lower, not higher. You don't want them to not have food mid cycle (at least) in case their BG drops low.

One day I came home and couldn't find Beau, He got locked in the closet all day with no food! I never want a cat on exogenous insulin to be without food when I am not there.

Good thing you could get a new feeder. I love it when I have money I "forgot" about.

Those feeders are expensive, but worth it. Gandalf learned when his was about to go off, so he would influence it by pushing the door with his nose. I never worried about him having food when I was gone because of the feeder.

Given that she was 252 after going all day without food, she probably needs a dose increase. As Sheila said, their BG would be lower without food. I think you just increased though, so you'll want to wait a few cycles yet before increasing again.

Back from my trip- mom came over and fed/test/shot Sneakers- but the meter wouldn't work for her at all so I told her to shoot at a lower dose as I was up in an area with NO cell coverage for the most part- so she go 2.5u Friday night and Sat morning. We left the camp later than I thought we would so I didn't get home until almost 9- 2 hours after her normal shot time. She was 272 for all that and I shot at 3u since she needs to get her back onto the 7/7 schedule by Monday. Will shoot at 8:15 tomorrow morning and 7:40 Sunday night- larger than 1/2 hour but her Monday shot is 7 whether I am ready or not.

Good news though, I got offered a job (mine was closing down in August) that has a little better pay and I can sock a few bucks away each month for her lab tests and insulin as summer doesn't usually have a lot of extra sewing jobs for me.

Congrats on the job offer!

As far as moving shots earlier there are two ways to do it. 1) slowly move the shot back over time in 15-20 minute intervals (slightly longer if you know your cat well enough and the slight overlap won't be a problem). And 2) move it in one step, but reduce the before shot as well as the early shot.

I actually find the later way easier to manage. I tend to forget an interim step when I try to do it slowly. I usually reduce by about 15% on the two shots.
