Nothing much to report on my squeaky gal.

Food:
She gets tired of the can before the 5.5 oz is finished so tends to leave about 1.5 oz uneaten- starting to freeze them with water so I can dish out a flavor here, a flavor there. Friskies Special Diet makes her throw-up. At least it is over the clothes that NEED to be washed rather than the bed or the carpet... :-D Will try introducing the raw back into the when I come back in two weeks.

Weather change:
Now she's my cuddle buddy again- sleeps with me, gets up on the couch and lays next to me or across my knees. I've put down throw rugs on teh floor and she is either on them or on her poke stool with her legs hanging off.

FD:
After a few fur shots- she moves at the most inopportune times  we have settled on 21u for the time being. I'll give it another week to settle and do a curve as best I can on the weekend. Most likely the night half  .

That's about it for Sneakers at this time. She's wheezing more and doesn't like it when I turn her on her back and cradle her in my arms- starts to panic where she didn't before. I think she has trouble breathing then so I have started placing her on my shoulder instead so she can sit upright and she likes that better.

I always like to see your updates. Sorry to hear about the wheezing

her poke stool.....that's so funny.
and why do cats not ever throw up on a floor confused_cat , but hey, I'lll take on the dirty clothes over the "clean" carpet any day.

May have found an underlying issue w/the boy....putting up a post on that ;-)

I wonder what is in the special diet that makes her throw up? And yeah, mine always throw up on the carpet. The first time Ariel threw up she when into the litter box! I thought, what a smart girl! But that was the only time (long fur, so she gets hairballs).

Good update. Sorry to hear about the wheezing too. But its good you have adapted her cuddle time position so she is comfortable and still gets held and cuddled. It sounds like she is doing very well, considering.

You are doing a great job with her.

I am changing my position about the wheezing after last night as I don't think it is her breathing she has trouble with (although she still wheezes but I don't think it is the reason she doesn't like to cuddle).

I was combing out her dandruff- STILL at her haunches only- and she kept protesting and actually growled . So I checked her out, feeling her feet, legs, got to her hips and she growled again. I think my old lady is getting arthritis in her hips :o  and this cold weather is just making them ache and when I pick her up to cuddle I put pressure on them and it hurts.

I already give her 1/3 gaba BID- an inflamatory for pain- so I don't know if I need to up the dose to half or look for adding another medicine. We should have warmer weather by this weekend and I'll see if I can get my neighbor to help me make two stairs- one to get her up to her food (3.5 ft- have two mid-stage levels already) and the other to get onto the bed (3 ft jump) as winter will be coming in soon.

Food plan seems to be working. I split one 5.5 oz can to a 14 hole ice tray and fill the rest with water and sprinkle in a little Mirilax. Give her 2-3 different cubes at a time, thawed in the microwave so it smells lovely to her and so far she has been happy with no food wasted. Lets see how long this can continue...

Oh, yeah, some of them do get arthritis. I wonder about that with Beau, but he has always been "stiff" (somersault photos aside - he was about 4 in that picture). He likes to burrow under the down throw I have on my bed, so he likes warmth.

I know that Vicky took Gandalf for acupuncture for his arthritis and it helped. Not sure if that is an option for you.

Stairs are a good idea. You know they make pet stairs. You should be able to find them on Amazon or in a big box pet store. When I was first married, my old lady cat had arthritis and my husband built a set of stairs for her to get up on our really high bed. There were four stairs, probably 4-5" tall/wide. When he was done he put them next to the bed and went and got her and put her down in front of them. She just looked at him like he was crazy, so he demonstrated for her, walking up them on his toes because his feet were too big to fit! It was really funny, but she got it and walked up them herself. Used them the whole last year of her life. She also like heat and would sleep under the covers between us especially in the winter.

Yes, this morning about 1 I woke up with Sneakers laying on my arm, purring her head off and, obviously, wanting food.

Apparently I did a bigger fur shot again last night than I thought or she suddenly needs more insulin. There was some insulin but not a lot- certainly not what I would have considered even half a dose.

Checked for ketones- none. I can't tell if it my imagination or is she really getting a cro-magnum forehead look right now :? ??? Maybe her tumor is kicking in again. Food intake hasn't really increased that much... Just one of the ups and downs an acro cat gives us to worry about.

Currently Sneakers is exchanging secret emails with Pumba, Dante, and Missy   .

Can you compare old photos with how she looks today? A profile pic would probably help the most. When my Murphy had the nasal lymphoma, I kept a record of its growth with profile photos. Not sure why I felt compelled to do that, but there you go....

Acro causes the long bones to grow and the other bones to thicken, so it is entirely possible that her skull is bigger. My sister grew something like 2" (in her late 40s) from the acro. And she felt skull changes, like her teeth not aligning the same. Her forehead might be broader now. She feels the changes in her skull are very pronounced, but I don't really see them. It's nothing you would notice if you weren't looking for it and knew her many years before the acro.
