Sneakers has been in good numbers since I haven't been doing any fur shots- looking to shave two stripes down her side to get rid of the mats coming up from dandruff- I thought she would be over that now she was in good numbers but with her coat getting thick for winter it is just getting worse.

Last 8 cycles she has been all BLUES with one yellow that was so low it could have been a blue with variance and one blue that was so low it could have been a green :-D .

Her arthritis is doing better- no squeaks when I pick her up- mainly b/c I am careful not to put pressure on her hip area. Working on a ramp idea now. I make sure she gets her 1/3 gaba in but wonder if I need to raise it to 1/2 pill BID instead of just the 1/3 pill BID. I'll ask in health about that.

She will spend the weekend at grandma's house- it is where we first met and she adopted me :-D - as I will be out of town. I will drop her off Friday before I leave and pick her up on Sunday late when we get back. Will split her dose into the pill compartments for the weekend for mom to dose it correctly.

Freezing her foods in ice cube trays has really helped eliminate food waste as I can switch between all three types all day rather than just one a day. Plus she only gets a limited amount at a time- 1-1.5 oz depending on how many cubes she gets and I can just leave out 4 or 5 during the day to thaw.

How much is she eating now per day? Is that a steady amount or increasing/decreasing? I'm just wondering how you keep up with it if its always changing.

Good thing you and Sneakers have grandma ready to babysit. Was she your mom's cat originally?

Heather - I think I need to go by the Dollar Store and get some ice cube trays. Then I need to clean out my freezer, so there's room for them! At the rate Grayson eats, I may have to clear a whole shelf!

I also need to order that feeder that I've been holding off on getting. Hopefully that will keep his food intake spread out over the cycle, so presumably no food spikes. My only concern with the feeder is how doggie-safe is it??? Jack and Dom have proven to be quite persistent - especially when no one is supervising! I'd hate to leave Grayson isolated just for the sake of food. He's usually fairly sociable. Of course if he had to choose between food and hanging out with Dom, I think we all know the answer!

Sneakers is lucky to have a DGM to take care of her while you're away! What would we do without all our amazing pet-sitters???!!!

Here's to more good numbers!

Since the cubes aren't really an ounce of food- more like 1/2 to 3/4- I have to gauge. I've got a food scale and that might help me to be more consistent. She was eating a can and a half every 24 hours, 3 cans per two days- but at least 1-2 ounces was wasted because she got tired of it. I used to freeze all the left over food rather than put it in the trash as we have flies- it would easily be 2 little sandwich baggies full every week. Now there is half a baggie or less each week so that is a plus.

Intake- Since I split a whole can into the ice cube trays and add water- she will eat half of 3 different trays (b/c I have 3 different meals) a day and all of all three trays in two days... a bit more intake than usual because she doesn't have the waste as she used to. Thawing them out is the waiting part but I put two cubes in the thaw, warm her ears, test, get out the insulin and draw her dose and then the food is ready and she eats and I can give her the shot. I thaw out another two cubes and put them in her plate and place two more cubes in the bowl to thaw while I go back to bed  . She gets those after I take my shower and when i leave I thaw out 3 cubes and put down 4 frozen ones. All gone by the time I get home when we start the process over. I do think her food intake is picking up though so I'll have to keep an eye on it. And I did get a few pictures of her forehead so I can compare later.

No, grandma wasn't the original owner of Sneakers- my sister was second owner (and she got her from a friend), but my sister and I lived at the house together for a few months before Eli was born (which is how I keep track of how long I've had Sneakers- 11 years Oct :-D ). Then Tui and Eli moved out and mom moved in. So Sneakers should know the house okay and not be stressed. Plus it is just down the street from me- 1/4 mile max.

Numbers... She threw me a 306 the other morning but since she didn't wake me for food at 2 or 3AM I think she had whatever was on her plate because that is the only reason her numbers would have spiked like that and her +2.5 was down 50 points. This morning I got a solid 100 at AMPS. So I shot 19u instead of 22u as no one is home during the day and I left her two extra cubes.

Feeder- I don't have a dog so no idea. It is kind of sturdy (petsafe 5) but some have said that their animals have managed to move the slots forward to the next meal... How big/strong/persistent are the dogs? When I foster- eventually (if I don't have to take in the neighbors cat immediately)- I am thinking about putting cat doors in the doors. One in my bedroom for Sneakers and one in the spare room for the foster cat so they have a little room to be alone. I know Grayson is bigger but how big are the dogs compared to him?

I am off on Thursday so I will be doing another curve- work being done on my house so might as well take the time to do it- getting my ducts sealed. And on Monday they will be adding insulation to turn my R3 insulation into R33- so lower heating and cooling bills in my future :-D .

I guess that is about it for my old lady update but first a funny story- I got asked how Sneakers was doing at work by one of my managers so I said she was doing okay, she did have a tumor and that the cold weather was making her arthritis act up and be painful so I was going to make ramps so she can get up to her food because I didn't want to shoot her on the floor. Well, I forgot that one of my co-workers didn't know Sneakers was diabetic and got 'shot' regularly so she apparently looked horrified at the notion of me just building a ramp just so I can shoot my cat because she had arthritis. We got it straightened out quickly though but it was kind of funny for a bit.

When it would just be so much easier to just pick her up and put her on the counter to shoot her  But what a mess.... This falls under "language can be fun" - especially when we are a little loose with the grammar part of it.

Saw my aunt today and they have horses and chickens. One horse pooped near the chicken coop and a chicken laid an egg in it immediately after. Her 4 yr old grandson ran into the house yelling that the horse laid an egg

"You are NOT going to believe this Grandma!!!" he said with the most earnest expression on his face :-D .

Sneakers was ensconced into grandma's house at noon yesterday. I took her back and set her on the low bed in a patch of sunlight and brought in her litter box (freshly cleaned) and set up her food and water dish. Changed clothes into my travel ones and left my exercise ones on the bed and on her little stool top she sometimes sleeps on.

Mom said she did well last night, slept with her most of the night and then got up and went to the lb (normal). She even managed to get up at 5:10 to give her the 5:00 shot  .
