@Elizabeth and Bertie @Diana&Tom ..... I noticed this a while ago but I am now wondering if it is also a symptom of Diabetes ... Smiffy has always been jet black all over but she now has a noticeable amount of brown furr and also the furr around her back teats has gone - about the size of the bottom of a small glass ... she is 14 ... I have found on line that the browning could be just due to sun and age but also could be a deficiency of an ammino acid called Tyrosine or it could be thyroid or liver problems ...Smiffy was tested for both of the later and the results came back good so I am wondering if your black kitty has browned fur and if it is part of Diabetes? The Vet didn't seem to think the balding was anything to worry about .. it is now sore at all and she doesn't over groom in that area ... what do you think?
