Smart Cat Litter Box Help

I recently purchased the Smart Cat Litter Box, however my cat, Kay is not so happy about using it. We've had the box for about a week. To help with the transition, I put the Smart Cat box next to her traditional clumping litter box. Since cats like clean boxes better than dirty ones, I haven't cleaned out her old one, since we got the Smart Cat box. I also have put some of her poop into the Smart Cat box so it would smell like her and I've also place her into the box a couple of times (this is what I usually do whenever we travel in order to show her where her litter box is). However, she still hasn't used the Smart Box yet. Today I couldn't take the smell of the old litter box anymore, so I cleaned it out. I didn't put it back out for her either. So the only box for her to use is the Smart Cat Box. She still hasn't used it and as far as I can tell she hasn't gone anywhere else either. Hopefully she'll eventually go in the box. Does anyone have any other suggestions for what I can do to help make this transition easier for her?

The suggested transition usually includes putting some of the new style litter in the old box, so they get used to the change in texture.
just a thought.

Transition between the clumping and the Smart Cat litter in the old litter box, gradually making the mix be just Smart Cat litter.

I hesitate posting to these threads because I don't want to step on toes but.....watch your house since cat pee on floors and furniture is forever. There is no way to remove the smell completely.

You are playing with fire by removing her box. Cats clearly prefer an unscented clay clumping litter over any other substrate which has been shown in several behavior studies.

I understand the environmental concerns about sourcing and disposing of clay litter but I am so paranoid about my cats ever using any place else to pee other than their box....that I will only use clay clumping litter.

I do a lot of IE (cats not using their box) consultations and, by far, the number one reason is because a nice...soft....easy to dig and bury....substrate is not being used. Or....the box is dirty. (A box is filthy with more than 3-4 'items' in it yet so many people just do not scoop the box frequently enough.)

Be careful that you don't push your cat into permanently soiling your home.

Many people really love the SB litter box and it works great for them but many cats are also not keen on the idea of having their normal substrate removed.
