Hi all,

What brand are most folks using here?

How much do you give?

Side effects?

Why is it important that the vet knows this is administered to the kitty?

Thanks!

I use Now brand SEB. It's a very nice, fluffy powder that dissolves well and my picky eater doesn't seem to have any problem with it mixed into her food. I give her 1/8 tsp with breakfast, and again with dinner. I am unaware of any significant side effects.

It is important to let your vet know kitty is receiving SEB because it coats the lining of the stomach and will block other meds from being properly absorbed. You should wait at least two hours between administering SEB and any other oral meds.

Thanks, you answered every question purrfectly!

It would seem not to be an issue, for short-term use. Read here "...(NOTE: Slippery Elm may interfere with absorption of medications; and long-term use may have some effect on nutrient absorption. It may be best to give Slippery Elm at a different time, separate from medications. Please discuss use of all supplements and herbs with your veterinarian.)" from an article by Jean Hofve, DVM at Little Big Cat.
