Can someone check out Maddie's spreadsheet and help me with a sliding scale for prozinc? Also, She's had a couple incidents a few months ago where we had to get the karo syrup out. I had given her a half unit and she dropped very quickly so when that happened the vet said no insulin unless she's over 300. I haven't talked to the vet about her numbers recently but based on the numbers the past 2-3 weeks what do you this is my best course of action here? I can do a curve this weekend. Next week I start working part time (currently full time) because I start school in the fall (veterinary medicine- go figure....feline diabetes made me want a career change)

Thanks for the help!

Sarah,

I would be most comfortable helping you with a sliding scale once you get midcycle numbers or a curve. It's best to know what is happening in the middle of the cycle - how low does a dose take her - before you decide on dosages. Can you do that soon? Even a number here and there over a few days will help, if you don't have the time for a full curve.

Tomorrow I don't work til 11 so I can give her her shot (if she needs it) at 5:30am and get a couple more numbers before I leave at 10:15. Then Saturday I plan to do a curve. Next week I'll be home a lot more.

Glad to see you are posting here Sarah. Once you have a bit more data Sue can definitely point you and Maddie in the right direction!!! :)

Her chart is update. I'm a little nervous about the 93 @4.5 hours so I'm feeding her fancy feast now.

Just regular low carb should be fine unless she is in the 70s. Very nice midcycle numbers, and a big drop from amps. More data will let you see whether her preshots are bounces from low numbers midcycle or whether the dose is pretty good - taking her into double digits but not too low.

Sue

Sarah is using the AT2 pet meter so she should be trying to keep Maddie at or above 68

Maddie

Those mid cycle numbers are important in order to be able to see when Maddie hits her nadir (lowest number in the cycle) Great job on getting more data!!

ETA If I remember correctly Prozinc "usually" will have a nadir around +5-+7 hours, so you might want to do another test at +5.5 or +6 to see if Maddie is still dropping
