Hi I am new here. My almost 16 year old, Skittles was diagnosed in 2017 and she has been on and off Lantus since then. She stopped eating in early April 2020 and I rushed her to emergency vet on Eater Sunday. She was given fluids and they gave her prozinc to quickly stabilize her.
Skittles has always been a little squirmer but is calmer now with senior age. I have had her in my master bathroom where I have finally learned to home test regularly. She has nowhere to run but it was my best solution. she is on 1.5 units twice per day Lantus. I just learned about the spreadsheet. I don’t know if there is enough data yet, but I need advice. I have chosen the slow method because it will work with my schedule better when I return to work after this pandemic. I don’t know how to attach the spreadsheet that I have just begun to use. I did it this way. I do not like my current vet and I am currently seeking someone who actually knows about feline diabetes and not just canines. Also, it would be wonderful to get feedback from any who could tell me their experience with Freestyle Libre. I think Skittles would be a good candidate after I know if she is on right dose. Thank you all. Karen

Hi Karen, welcome to you and Skittles!

good for you for home testing, yay! It will make a huge difference on getting the right dose for Skittles :cat:

Just wanted to say that you don’t have to attach the spreadsheet. If you used google drive and google sheets you can make it public so we can all just click on a link and go to it. Here’s more info while we wait for Chris:

http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/fdmb-spreadsheet-instructions.130337/

look at numbers 5-9 for the publishing instructions and copying and pasting the link. If you can’t figure it out, Chris will help! And here are the instructions for setting up your signature where you’ll post the link to your ss:

http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/editing-your-signature-profile-and-preferences.130340/

Again, welcome! :bighug:

Happy to help if I can! Looks like you got the spreadsheet but you need to put the link to it into your "Signature" so it opens the actual spreadsheet when we need to look at it before giving you much in the way of helpful advice.

One thing I can see right off the bat....it's important to get at least a "before bed" test on the PM cycle. Most cats go lower at night so it's important for Skittles' safety.

Also, if you only test on the AM cycle, you're only seeing half the picture. Think of your spreadsheet like it's a puzzle. If the only pieces that are filled in are on one side, you will never know what's on the other side!
