Sorry I am confused about the correct forum I should use to get this answer <3 So I am posting here as well! thank you.

We have started with insulin last week and I started measuring his glucose with a meter that works similarly to Alphatrek. I just got the measure of 5.1mmol/l, that´s 91.8 in the US.

We have a check up in the vet on two hours and it´s a long card ride.

Should we skip insulin now?

I made this post in the prozink forum:

Has your vet told you what he wants you to do? Are you going in for a curve where it's important to have the shot on time?

That being said, I wouldn't suggest shooting that low with as little data as you have. While most cats react to stress by going higher, some will actually go lower.

I'm not sure I understand what you're doing on your spreadsheet.

You should be testing before every shot. That's the AMPS (AM Pre-Shot) and PMPS (PM Pre-Shot)

The + cells correspond to the number of hours since the last shot. So (for example) if you usually shoot at 7am and you get another test at 10am, that's 3 hours since the last shot, so the test number goes in the +3 cell. If you test again at 2pm, that's 7 hours since the last shot, so the test number goes in the +7 cell...all the way up to +11 and then it all starts over with the PM cycle.

You need to test before every shot to make sure the blood glucose is high enough to give insulin at all....then you need to test in between shots to see how low the dose is taking him. You should try to get at least 1 mid-cycle test like between 5-7 hours after the morning shot and then on the PM cycle, get at least a "before bed" test. Most cats go lower at night so it's important for safety to get that "before bed" test to make sure he'll be OK while you're sleeping!

So yes, we are at the VET right now. He was going to test fructosamine but when I showed my glucose measures and they saw how energetic, playful and normal my cat is, the vet said that we should check his pancreas and check for other signs of infection, which could be causing this diabetes state. He said that the results are actually quite surprising - they didn't expect such a good response and so fast for my cat

So we are at the clinic waiting 8 hours to get this blood exam.

I will keep glucose measures at home and I will do a glucose curve this weekend.

We´ve been in the vet today :-) So he has answered to the treatment in a very susprinsingly positive way! We were going to take the fructosamine and urine proof but the veterinary saw no reason to do that today because his home results were so good and he is so well.

But the veterinary is still suspicious of Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency, so he got to do a new blood proof today. He will continue with insuline, glucose measuring; and we will do a glucose curve at the weekend.
