Hi
Sister has been off Lantus since September 11, 2021. Her back leg neuropathy cleared up soon after she got regulated, and she lost the extra weight. She continues to consume mostly Dr. Elsey's CleanProtein dry cat food which is low carb. All the other cats have transitioned to low carb, too. I check her BG about every 10 days. Her last wellness check was March 2022, and her bloodwork and urinalysis results were good.

Several weeks ago, I saw her stumble like her back legs gave out. She recovered in about a minute. No other symptoms during that episode. Then today while napping behind my chair with another cat, I heard an odd commotion. She verbalized a little and there was a sound like cats running. She staggered out toward me. I held her still so she would not fall and for the next minute she looked around the room as if she was dizzy or there was a bug flying that she was following (there wasn't). There was no jerking as with a seizure. She recovered quickly but seemed as worried as I was. She ate a little food and is napping again.

Note: She did have Metconazole for 8 days starting March 21 for diarrhea (she gets diarrhea occasionally along with vomiting with hairballs or mucus. Vet thinks it is allergies).

I would appreciate your thoughts about this stumbling.

Thanks.

Have you checked the BG recently?
Not all seizures have jerking. I would have a vet visit.
One of my cats (my daughters cat really) recently had a few odd episodes, where she was a bit strange, and her mobility was a bit erratic and was slightly incontinent of urine…just a few dribbles. Only lasted less than a minute each time.
We took her to the vet and the vet did blood work…everything was fine so she then tested for toxoplasmosis and she was positive. She had to have a month of antibiotics and hopefully is now OK.
Not saying it is that but it is worth running it past the vet.

Aww sending the sweet girl well wishes.
FWIW about a year ago one of my other cats had three similar episodes where he got spooked and lost mobility. It was never repeated and the vet called it a neurological episode. I had some guesses what it was… but… guesses ;)
Good luck with sister!

Thank you. I know it is something. Not nothing. Not my imagination. Keeping a close eye on her. Will schedule a visit to Monkeydo's internist if it happens again.
