My vet put Stubbie on the above steroid after seeing "slight thickening of the bowel" on an ultrasound. This was three months ago. His numbers on Prozinc were beautifully controlled for 3 years until this; high 100s. We stopped the steroid after two weeks, but his numbers have remained high, 300s and 400s. I kept thinking, "He's getting into the carb food of the other cats," but not now. Yesterday he was at 69 after 5 units after 400s the days before, (I gave him syrup); and last night I tested him pre-shot at 184, and I gave him only 2 units. Afraid of hypo, obviously. This morning he is at 511. This is just nuts. I blame the steroid and I am losing him. I have had him six years and I get all of this, understand it and had it nailed. I am totally at a loss and I am also angry. It's like he is bouncing and can't stop. I know this steroid can give cats diabetes who don't have it; and can wreak havoc on those that do have it. This is an example.
