I think that last night's shot was a partial fur shot although most of it went in. When I started pushing in the plunger, he moved but I stopped before it all went in to the fur. Then I repositioned him and shot the rest. I would say about 1/4 to 1/3 was fur :YMSIGH:

So, today I gave him 2.25 again (am using U-40 syringe so it is really a "fat" 2) since that yielded best results since we began. He is back to his 6:30am/6:30pm time after being off by 3 hours on Friday so we slowly moved it back by an hour each day since so only 11 hours between shots this weekend.

Seems he is getting used to the BG testing and is much less upset when I tell him it is time for "ears" a word that usually makes him put his ears down flat and he begins to look around for a way to run away...LOL. Poor little fellow. :o

But, he lets me do it and his ears are giving up the blood very easily after a tiny poke. Since I began using Neosporin, he seems less upset. As soon as I tell him "now we are putting on the Neosporin", he knows it is going to be snack time and I think it is soothing on the area too. Who ever told me to use that, thank you! Was using Vaseline but it did not have the same effect.

Heading off to work for the day soon. I am working the late shift so won't be home until 7:30 which means his night shot will be done by hubby. Hoping he does do a PMPS BG reading, but that might be asking too much since he is really squeamish about blood and needles to begin with. He did do a shot the other day which was a miracle in and of itself but he really loves Simon so I guess that love overcame his fear/squeamish feelings ohmygod_smile

I told him if he had questions/concerns and if anything seemed "off" to come here and post and use the 911 and post on the main board so that someone would respond and help him cause I won't be near the phone as I will be conducting a workshop and unavailable until 7ish. I also told him that if he gets a "fur shot" not to freak out and give him more. Did I leave anything out that he needs to know? He knows to feed him of course and to give him a snack after the BG reading and after the shot.

Worried a little since I haven't worked the late shift since Simon's diagnosis (once or twice a month each of us take turns coming in later and leaving later) so this won't be often and since I am a control freak, that is good news..lol

Ok, heading for the shower as I have a doctor's appointment this morning and then off to work. Thanks for all of your help!

Yesterday was a nice cycle, Joyce so I like your staying with the 2.25. And he didn't bounce from the blues yesterday which is great. Hope Hubby can get a reading tonight before the shot but if not, it should be okay. You can get some tests when you get home if he can't, to be sure how he is doing.

Doctor's appointment got over quickly so I rushed home and did his +4 which is 71!!! While I am thrilled, I am also a wreck cause I have to leave for work and I am worried he is gonna hypo! He ate his breakfast (full can of FF) and now is eating his second can and also had a few snacks (freeze dried chicken at 9 bucks a bag - holy cow!) so Hubby will watch him since he is home today.

If you see that 911, please help him. He is not really all that familiar with this and has not done the reading I have. He knows about the gravy food and the karo and he has the ER vets number. Ok, off to work!

I'm around today and will watch. DH should take a test in another hour or so, if he can. That 5-6 time frame is the lowest of the cycle. Good idea to have food out so he can eat and bring himself back up if he needs to.

Sure am glad you aren't giving 3 units! :-D

Simon did not have his evening shot until just now. His BS was 338 and hubby did not dare give him insulin until we tested him and he tried earlier and kept getting an error message on the tester! Ugh...I think hubby needs more lessons. But, at 13 hours, it is 338 which is not too bad PLUS hubby gave him food all day cause he was worried he would hypo and he also gave him a few snacks plus a can of FF.

Going to school him about this as apparently he wasn't quite ready for the job

He really did try. Poor Simon...he poked him about 4 times for the blood and he just couldn't get the tester part right. It timed out twice while hubby set up the poke cause he was so worried he would poke him in the wrong part of the ear...lol. It is NOT as easy as it looks and then again, it is easier than I thought it would be.

Thanks for watching out for him in case. Hubs did the right thing by waiting for me to test him before giving the shot. I am proud of him. He stayed with Simon all day and never let him out of his sight to make sure he did not have any problems. I would have left work and broke the land speed record if he had needed me ohmygod_smile

Ok, will do a test later to see how Simon is doing. I will make sure that I test him around 11:30 which will be 4 hours and then I will know if I need to stay up and retest. I am just so happy we finally got a green!
