Good morning all. I did finish Simmie's curve yesterday and while running still a bit too high this morning, about 10 hours after his last shot (I know I need to get to that soreadsheet), his BG is 237. My biggest problem right now is that since last night about 10 and this morning he has had terrible runs. Since his BG is pretty ok I was thinking that it must be the PurinaOne pate. I did finally move him completely from wet and a small amount of dry MD. He seems perfectly content having eaten his breakfast and is interested as always in his ice cubes.

Do you think it is the food change? If so, should I give him some of the dry md and take more time to adapt to his PrurinaOne. He was on a mix of wet and dry MD for many years.

Hugs,
Lydette

If it was a sudden food change, that could be the cause. Most of the time, you should see the stool go back to normal within a day or two.

Food changes are best done gradually, swapping out 20-25% old with new food each day or two.

A probiotic may be helpful, such as Forti Flora or IntelliFlora.

A tiny bit of plain canned pumpkin can also help to firm up the stool. About 1 teaspoon to start may help Simmie immensely. You may need to increase it a tiny bit if that does not help to firm up the stool in 24 hours or so.

Morning everyone,

Simmie is doing much better this morning - his stools have firmed up, and I may be fooling myself, but his neuropathy seems to have gotten a little better over the past week and 1/2 with the Zobaline. Also, since moving him to the low carb food it is the first time he has stayed at 271 and below for over 3 days now. I'm feeling much more in control and I can't thank you guys enough for all the support.

He is still attacking his ice with a vengeance  and looks at me with so much love that I simply can't believe that all this poking is anything more than an irritation for him because he can't get to his snack fast enough.

Hugs,
Lydette and Simmie
