Hi,

My first day safely in the greens! does anything change or just stay the same? A bit bitter sweet as I am getting his diabetes under control, he is retaining fluid and his belly is distended. Hoping the diuretics will help. Even though he tested fine a few weeks ago for kidney function, afraid that is what it is or maybe a pancreatic tumour. He is not in congestive heart failure, but something is clearly wrong. :(
 
I wouldn't do anything with dose.

I'd really encourage you to push your vet to get the cause figured out. Your vet can easily consult with an internal medicine specialist to get some ideas if more tests are needed to come up with a cause.

Just wanted to say that I hope they find out what is going on with Simke. And that it is something fixable. It is so frustrating to not know the reason behind the symptoms. Healing vines to him.

Nice to see him in good numbers :smile:
 
It is hard, but there is only so much I want to put him through. She didn't have any suggestions for treatable things. The possibilities appear to be kidney failure, tumours of some sort, herpes virus. He is still happy but bloated and has fluid, I am hoping he is not gaining any more though.

Has she thought about feline infectious peritonitis? It causes fluid in the abdomen but, unfortunately, there is no test which will unequivocally dx it.
 
It has now switched to pitting edema, it is outside if the abdominal cavity, asked another vet today, she didn't have any ideas either. He is still happy and hungry though
