I went on a 3 month vacation and had left my cats Simba and Nala with a pet sitter who would come every 3 days to clean the litter box and pet them for about an hour. When I got back, I noticed that my 14 year old cat Simba was peeing blood, had lost a lot a weight, was very lethargic and was going outside the litter box (which my pet sitter failed to bring up while I was away or admit to since I've been back). I immediately took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with diabetes 3 weeks ago and has been on 2 units of prozinc twice a day ever since. He pees by my front door every single night, which is 3 feet from the litter box, and sometimes another random spot in the house. He will go into the litter box to poop and sometimes pee but it's mostly outside. I have put down training pads and even still, sometimes he misses. I have even bought the enzyme cleaners to help clean it further but nothing seems to help. His blood sugar has decreased from 502 (when he was diagnosed) to 130 in that time and I thought he would stop doing this when his diabetes was under better control. I don't know if it's a behavioral thing or if its still the diabetes but my its starting to become bothersome. I am about to place a second litter box in my very tiny apartment and see if that helps. If anyone has gone through this or has any tips for how to help him get back into the litter box, it would be greatly appreciated!!
