Newbie Kits has a need.
We are running low on strips again. As well as $ for the folks who require, or request free shipping.
I have sufficent rice socks (thanks you Karen and others) and toys (thank you to so many)
But strips remain an on going struggle. Matching them up to the meters I have.
So......
One Touch strips
Contour strips
Accu check strips (Please include the key for each vial)

If you want to send meters, please try to include a vial of strips.

If you want to send cash just paypal it over. Since paypal takes a cut I know there is a way to stop that from happening...but I don't know what that is....perhaps ask Venita as she once sent a donation that was not hacked into by paypal taking their cut.

Thank you all or any who can help.
This is my least favorite part of running the NK operation.....asking for contributions. But you always come thru.

Love and Hugs,
Lori

Ms. Lori,
I have the onetouch that you sent to me and a brand new box 25 ea..... will mail to you tomorrow! Been meaning to do that but forgot. Sorry... ohmygod_smile

oh shelly that would be purrrrfect! thank you so much.
you still have my address?
and the vial has a full 25 strips?
and not expired?
sorry...i have to ask these things....i do get these sort of delivery's at times ;-)

NEVER feel bad about asking for help. How would we know you need it if you didn't ask? This is a joint venture, Lori. Our job is to help you. cat_pet_icon

i know what you mean about getting expired strips from time to time and while most of us that have been doing this for awhile know that expired strips are perfectly fine for most meters and are accurate well beyond the date on the vial, i also never felt comfortable sending them out to newbies because they don't know, not right away anyway, and it could cast doubt on the whole kit thing is how i felt.

soooooooooo, an idea, for you and others out there that might be up for this as i did this a few times with people when i was doing the newbie kits..........swap expired strips you get or have with non-expired strips someone else might have. yeah there's the whole shipping thing but it doesn't waste strips and you have non-expired strips to send to newbies :-)

i'll look thru what i've got to see if i have any non-expired ones but i've got freestyle and in all honesty, i tend to buy expired because i can get them soooooooooo cheap so not sure if i've got any that will help

Mr. Lori, you are welcome! No, they are not expired. I bought them and then decided to the the relion and they would not take them back..... I think I have the directions for the meter and all - will ck it out today and get in the mail to you....probably tomorrow as I woke up late and could not get my sh*t together this am.... I think I am still using the lancet that came with that machine so I might send you the one that came with the relion if you dont mind... Still plan to make some catnip pillows, just need to find the time. I believe I have the original box that you sent my free kit in which should have your addy on it...I will check.
Hoping you and Tom are doing very well! :-D

Thank you guys,
Thank you Sue for the paypal donation.
The reason I dislike asking for help is I know there is so much help going on already on the board...people already are stretched to the max....and then, I wait until I am in kind of dire need which sucks. I am only and always only strapped for strips as folks send lots of everything else.
Shopping on ebay helps, and like Cindy said...the real bargains are those strips ready to expy.
Cindy...I have actually thrown away expy strips...some were expy in like '07!
and not that I'm not grateful...but I have received meters that should go in the museum as antique's
But still, keep them packages coming. Just make sure you would want to use what is in there guys.
And think like a Newbie. Not like one of us experienced folks.

Hi,

I work at eBay so PayPal is something I am familiar with. I believe that if someone sends you money as a gift, which technically this is a charity so I don't believe that is lying, that PayPal doesnt' take a percentage. With that said, it seems weird that people might be using the make a donation button and it would charge the fee, I dunno, maybe I'm giving PayPal too much credit.

Let me talk to some of my colleagues and see how this would/should work. I do know for sure there is a way to send money without any fee at all that also won't get you in trouble with them.

One can log onto PayPal directly, click on the "Send Money" tab, then "Personal", then "gift",
and those funds will not be charged a fee on the receiver's end.

Normally, the fee is 30-cents plus 3% of the amount sent.

Fee is paid by the receiver of the funds. So if I send $10, the
receiver gets $9.40.

The interface I recently used for Venita's "chip-in" for "Tux" took me to my PayPal account,
but not all the normal PayPal options were there. In particular, none of the "personal" options
were available to me, so I assume the "Chip-In" application filters those off somehow.

Very good Karen, that is exactly what I was thinking. If you guys need me to look into something specifically please let me know. I may as well be helping people who helped me while I'm working too :)

Lori, I can send you the freestyle freedom lite that you sent me and I have 150 strips, but they all expire 10/2011. Not expired yet but will this month. Could you still use these even though they are on the cusp?

Laura is that meter sensitive to expy dates? some are...contour and some others aren't. i hate to send out expy but things are a bit tight. do you know if they are expy sensitive. i believe Cindy said they were not. i could use the meter either way.

Gee, I don't really know. I haven't had an issue with wonky BG readings.

Does anyone else know the answer???

Do you want to PM me your address just in case? I'll try to put together the meter, carrying case, lancet pen and some lancets - I have some 26 gauge that I don't use anymore - good for new kitty ears. Plus the strips (3 blue vials of 50).

i have found that the freestyle strips, if properly stored, are good years beyond the expiration date. i'm not saying i'd send strips that expired years ago out to newbies but these particular ones you could probably do so and just communicate to the bean that years of experience here on the board has shown that the strips will be fine for several more months

or if you can break them down into several kits, maybe 50 a kit?, and get them out fairly rapidly, they'd probably be used up pretty quick anyway

Do you need strips for a ReliOn Micro meter? I think I have a brand new box, as well as a large baggy full of lancets.

Hi, Lori ~

Could you use a Freestyle Lite meter with 100 test strips (expiration 8/2012)? I might have some extra Monoject syringes around here somewhere too. I'll check.

Please PM me your mailing address. And thanks so much, Lori, for all you're doing with newbie kits.
