Hi all Magellan's sugars have been pretty good to night he is 83 should I give him a shot or not? If so how much??? I am thinking of skipping but he missed this am as mommie had migraine problems.

Just saw your post and hope you skipped the shot because 83 is too low to shoot. I am not very familiar with your insulin but I do know it acts faster than some others and could drop his sugar levels even more and rather quickly. Rule of thumb...don't shoot under 200.

In a situation like this , I'd feed Magellan and check his BG again about an hour later and then based on that reading you can decide what to do. 83 is actually a really nice number but it's not high enough to give him insulin.

Yes I did skip the shot and 2 hours later his sugars where still good at 154 thanks for the advice some days I get soo scared that I am going to hypo him. Or have to tell his (human) daddy that I killed his cat!

With Novolin, unless you have data showing it would be safe (glucose above 50 mg/dL on a humal meter), you'll never shoot below 150 mg/dL on a human meter.

No I do not have such data in fact I have very little data on novalin n other than what you guys have supplied. In fact I have received no information from my vet other than how to administer the shots. Thank you for the guide lines on when it could/would be safe to shoot it is a massive load off of my mind and heart.
