Should I be worried about this?

Newkitty's is laying on her side on the ottoman. Her back has been twitching (the skin across her back & hind legs) earlier this evening. At one point she sat up and looked at it, like she was annoyed. Just now her back did it again and she either kicked her hind leg out numerous times or it did it on its own. Should I be concerned? I have not seen this before. (She is not currently on insulin). All while lying on her side.

Allie this sounds a little like something I've seen here before....only much less dramatic.
tom has had an 'attack' of this quite a few times.
Cindy and mousie too
and a couple of others.

Here's what I've seen with all of them.
Twitching back, cat looks irritated and in pain. cat runs away (apparently from himself :? )
a front or back paw stands out and is shaked by cat ... over and over.
Usually this is a freightening event for the bean.

Is New kitty doing ok otherwise?

If you see Cindy and Mousie on board she had video's of it I think.
Could be nuerological?
has'nt caused any serious problems.

Hi Lori. Thank you for responding. She is not herself today--yesterday she had some of her personality back and seemed to be feeling better. Interactive and mouthy, etc. Today she seems off, lethargic. Her fur looks dry and spiky. She goes back to the vet on Thursday to recheck her blood values. No vomiting or diarrhea (knock wood) and she has gained a few ounces since the dx of her kidney issues--thanks to cyproheptadine and hand-feeding. I just keep expecting her to seem like she feels better since everyone has said her values are relatively decent for kidney disease and she has been on ABX for nearly 2 weeks now. *worried*

honey dealing with a hypo on health..'ohbell'
i'll read your post in a mini....hugs.

tessie lou on the lantus forum has had leg twitches that sound exactly like this - i'm giving her the link here so she can connect with you.

Hi,
FWIW,my Tessie Lou has had several of these incidences. I bought her a memory foam pet bed from Walmart ($38) and she loves it and hasn't had an incident since (2 weeks). I think it may be a circulation problem with Tessie. She is obese, which can cause problems with circulation. Don't know if your kitty could benefit from the bed, but thought I'd offer it up as an option.

Good luck!
