? Shooting under 200?

Arthur has been diagnosed with asthma. It's extremely mild, and the reason we learned of this is due to a flair due to construction nearby. No treatment other than we have a air purifier running constantly. No attacks since we added that.

Libre install completely failed. We are going to stick with the prick. Dose was increased from 1 u to 1.5 u.

Spreadsheet is updated, and my question is what to do when shooting under 200. He seems to be blue for his AMPS if gets his evening shot. It's been hectic as you can see from the missed shot and test. :(

I plan on doing a curve this Saturday when I'm off, but I feel bad skipping his doses when he's <200 mg/dl.

Will increased exercise help Arthur recover from diabetes? Trying to do everything I can.

Hi there. It's good to hear from you. It probably was not a good move to increase from 1 unit to 1.5 units, given that you have no mid-cycle tests on the 1.5 unit -- he should have been increased to 1.25 units and a curve should have been run if mid-cycle tests can't be performed.

I really can't advise about how much to shoot when he's under 200 because we don't know what his nadirs are on this dose -- so it would be a wild guess as to what dose to shoot and I would not endanger Arthur. It is likely that skipping the shot entirely is not the right thing to do and that a reduced dose would be advisable, but we have absolutely no idea of his nadirs on this new dose of 1.5. Since you are seeing blues at times, it's possible he's even dropping into greens. We don't know.

Why was the evening shot skipped when he was at 322 BG at PMPS? ( a couple of nights ago)

I promise I'm not trying to be mean or unhelpful, we just need more data to learn Arthur's patterns and make sure everything you do is going to be safe. I would love it if you could be a curve on the weekend and possible a few mid-cycle tests on the other weekend day (hopefully you are off two days in a row?)

Thank you for your reply!

I am feeling the same frustrations with myself. It's been an extremely hectic time in my life due to work demands at a new job and some personal life developments, so that's related to some of the issues with Arthur's diabetes management and lack of mid-cycle testing.

The vet encouraged us to increase his dose to 1.5 u. I'm planning on doing a glucose curve this weekend (Saturday and Sunday). I also have a pet sitter now who can do BG tests at a cost which I want to do if necessary. Monday - Friday I'm not available at all for mid-cycle testing, but I'm hoping that I can coordinate better with my partner to get more mid-cycle tests.

The reason his dose was skipped was due a human error. :( I have ADHD, but I'm pretty on the ball typically.

My question I guess is if tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday he's <200 mg/dl should I skip his dose? Not that it's a given.

And then do the 1.5 u on Saturday and Sunday while I'm home all day to monitor and do a curve.

I’m not sure. You may want to just skip since we have no idea what he is doing during the cycle. If we knew then I could suggest a smaller dose, of course if and when you shoot a reduced dose with a lower than expected preshot number (whether it os AMPS or PMPS, then there needs to be some testing after that to see if it was enough or too much.
