Shooting through the bounce??

Wendy and Neko mentioned on China's post yesterday that you can shoot through the bounce. I understand in this case it means she could give China the old dose to help her through the bounce tonight, and wait to reduce dose until tomorrow.

So, could I have applied that to my case yesterday where I had to stall the am shot? For example, I waited 45 minutes to shoot in am; Ebby had a great day until about +10. Because I had stalled in the am, I waited until +12 to give shot even though she was already in the 400's by plus 10. Could I have gone back to the old time and shot at say +11 or even +10?

Part of me thinks if she is in 400's, give her insulin if it is at least past +10. I know we want to try and stay on a 12 hour schedule, but why wouldn't we want to bring her down from those numbers as quick as possible? Couldn't I shoot early on these bounces and then make up the time the next day when her numbers are more stable?

What you're describing isn't shooting through the bounce. (Well, it may be but that's not how we typically use the term.) What you're describing is giving an early shot as a strategy to help offset high numbers. An early shot acts like a dose increase. It is a perfectly acceptable strategy to use providing your schedule can accommodate the timing. The only word of caution I would note is that if a bounce is breaking, giving an early shot could make for an "exciting" cycle where you might have to deal with fast dropping numbers.

Ok, thanks for explaining Sienne!

Yeah, and I guess she might start clearing her bounces quicker too, so I see where one would have to be more cautious, and it might not be easy to predict how a bounce will play out.

What a nice day yesterday. A little scary though. Hope she clears the bounce quickly and hops back down to green soon.

Have a restful day today, Melissa!
