Shoot or not?

So Myrtle has not been eating much at all the last few days - it's the antibiotics. Got to the point last night where I could only force feed her some chicken but her numbers where better. Tried some anti-nausea meds but they did nothing. She has been off the antibiotics 24 hrs and her numbers are up again, her bg is 16.5 (297) but may be a little elevated because I had to poke a few times and she was growling at me. Only had a few licks of FF pate and I'll try to force feed her a little raw chicken later. Should I shoot? Please don't tell me to test again in a little while as she has had enough - we also had a really rough night last night, it got to freezing so she was cold, we had heaps of stray cats outside yowling and she would just not settle - she was practically climbing the ceiling - don't know if there was a little hypo - she wouldn't let me near her - she would try to snuggle in if I was lying down but would then get restless again. It's 7.30pm now so I can't contact the vet now. I might ask him tomorrow if we should try the long-acting antibiotic shot (the pills are just too hard on hers stomach). I'm at my wit's end :(

Poor Myrtle, I'm sorry she's not feeling well!

I'm pretty new and not very knowledgeable yet, so I don't have any advice to offer. I do think if her belly is upset that it would be helpful to get the antibiotic shot instead. And a stressful night can absolutely cause elevated BG.

I took a look at your spreadsheet, and I'm just curious... are these the same test strips you started out with 2 years ago? Check the expiration and make sure they're still good.

Hopefully some other folks will chime in here shortly!

Thanks learjetta. I decided not to shoot in the end, too stressful to test her again and she ate only a little.. she seems a bit more comfortable this evening and is asleep under a blanket so I decided to leave her be and I’m going to see if I can get some sleep too. The test strips are definitely not the ones from 2 years ago, I chuck them out and buy new ones whenever they expire- it’s just too important to not get the numbers wrong.
