Just an FYI for next time.....one of the nice things about Lantus is that kitty doesn't necessarily need to eat a particular amount first. As long as they are willing to eat, it's usually 2-3 hours before the shot starts to kick in anyway so kitty can eat for those 2-3 hours.
If you get that dry D/M out of his diet, it will help bring his numbers down. It's very high in carbs.
I hope you'll spend some time reading the "Sticky's" on the Lantus forum. It looks like you may be basing your dose on the Pre-shot numbers and that's not how Lantus works.
