Shelby's Numbers Today - HELP

I checked Shelby's BG level today and he is at 142 and an hour later at 150 so climbing. Not sure why. Yesterday at the vet he was at 107. Could it be the stress of giving the fluids to him now as he has never had this done? The vet thought that is what is causing it and I am constantly checking on him and I bet he is wondering what the heck is going on with that. I am a worry wart. He has been off the insulin for 6 years and just don't want to have to go through that again and this kidney stuff (early stage of kidney failure). Giving fluids once a day for the next 5 days and then 2-3 times a week after that for help with kidneys. Also giving him Azodyl the vet gave me for the BUN numbers. But I see no reason his numbers should be climbing. Glad I have someone to talk to. I am freaking out on all this so any help and how do you deal with the stress will help.

Do you think his numbers will go down? Vet said if he get to 200 reading then we would put him back on he insulin. Any comments on that?

I also have 3 other cats beside Shelby and I feed them all the same thing so I guess changing all the diets now would be a good idea as they are all around the same age. I can mix the "Special Diet Turkey and Giblets with the regular Turkey and Giblets to get them a little use to it to see how it goes. There is a friskies special diet of Beef and Chicken I believe but they don't like it much but still give to them and Shelby has no problem eating it.

Any other suggestions or comments?

Nancy and Shelby

142 and 150 are pretty much the same number. There's about 20% variance due to the meter with any number you get. So, your 142 is anywhere from 124 to 160 and the 150 ranges from 120 to 180.
