Hey all,
Been a while since I've posted. My vet's been VERY receptive to my tracking Shelby at home. She had a checkup the week of Thanksgiving, and he liked the spreadsheet and asked me to import it into Excel and email it over so they can put it into her file. Said that they don't get many people tracking numbers like we are. He did mention that he didn't really care for the Relion Micro we're using because it "reads lower than feline meters" (his words), but when I mentioned the cost of the Alpha-Trak versus Relion, and that we were holding steady, he was ok with it. She does go in for dental work the end of the month because her teeth need cleaned. Vet also mentioned that diabetic cats usually do better once they get a good tooth cleaning.
HOWEVER
...he wanted us to start upping her dose to try to get to 3U a day. Which I started on 11/25 when we got the new insulin. Since then, her numbers are all over the place and she's off her food...not eating much if anything - just a few bites for breakfast and dinner. It's the same food it's been (Primal Pet turkey, aka "cubes" on the spreadsheet, or Sheba Pate chicken). I tried different FD approved wet foods here and there, even canned tuna or salmon to get her to eat, which those perked her appetite back up.
Because of her former feral lifestyle and our work schedule, we have to Test-SHOT-Food, otherwise she won't eat. I may try Test-FOOD-Shot this weekend when I can curve her.
I did get new low carb food for the civvie to eat (Nulo Indoor Cat, grain free Trout & Duck mixed with Blue Buffalo Grain Free). Could that be why she's bouncing if she has gotten into the civvie low-carb food? Should I try leaving wet food out instead?
.......I-love-my-cat-I-love-my-cat-I-love-my-cat!...
