Shaikha 8/3 - going to vet for IVs today

I'm taking her to the vet shortly for IV fluids and observation. After lower levels of glucose initially yesterday, she started going up last night and was up to 384 this morning. She wasn't much interested in eating either so I had to assist feed again, and the ketones were back on the meter (0.1 -- again nothing, but anything over zero is a change for her). I don't want to take a chance. Her temp was 102.4 but I can tell she still doesn't feel well so IV fluids would be a good thing, I'd think, plus the vet can monitor her for ketones, etc. during the day. Will keep you all posted.

We are back. Sorry I didn't post. Had to pot up some plants I got. Miss Shaikha is in a pretty blue pressure bandage and did fine at the vet's. Her fever is down and she was a good girl and did not throw ketones today. Yay! My vet thinks that the fluids and additional antibiotics will make the difference. She seems to feel much better and was definitely interested in food when I got her home, a big change from this morning when she was a little feverish and would not eat at all. I need to go check her glucose, but am hoping we are getting the upper hand on this episode. We also talked about giving either a plasma or whole blood transfusion. My vet thinks we do need to do something so that's the next thing up. We want to get her past this fever problem before we throw something new into the mix but plan to do do something on this next week. That will give him time to either get frozen plasma or spin down fresh himself.
