Yesterday Shaikha didn't seem to be feeling so well again so I tried giving some bupe in the evening. This morning she seemed more eager for food and ate her normal canned food with some coaxing and hand feeding. Ketones were back to 0.0 on the meter, and her glucose level was also lower at AMPS. Hopefully whatever was bugging her yesterday is better today, but I'll continue to monitor ketones to be sure. I may have cut out the bupe too quickly since pancreatitis takes a while to settle out. No fever still, thankfully. Will see how today goes and if she's not doing well I'll take her to the vet for observation while attending this conference the rest of the week so they can monitor glucose and ketones.

8/9 PMPS = 341, gave "fat" 0.9U (ketones 0.4 on meter; syringe fed canned food)
+7.5 = 254
+8 = 301

8/10 AMPS = 301, gave 0.9U (more interested in food this AM, though needed lots of coaxing and some hand-feeding)
+3.25 = 46 (yikes! fed her some dry food)
+3.75 = 71
+5 = 134
MDPS = 319, gave 0.8U (eating, but needs help and hand feeding again)
+3 = 197

Well this girl continues to drive me crazy! She looks like she was down to 46 at +3 after AMPS, though she was acting perfectly fine. She was happy enough to eat some dry food and came back twice for helpings, so that should help keep her from going too low (I need to leave here in a little while but won't until I know she's going up). This morning it could be that my meter was acting up. I had a +7.5 of 254, then retested in 15 min. and got 301. I tested again at +8 exactly and got 235 then 258. I finally switched to a new meter and got 253. So, maybe she was not quite rising when I thought, but at any rate I think we can cut her next dose back to 0.8U and see where that gets us since we're lower than we were yesterday.

She is so darn variable, but I never really know what her pancreatitis will do day to day. I do think the bupe has helped, so it probably is kicking up still since her appetite has improved since I put her back on it last night. She's had two doses so far. confused_cat

Off to retest her.

EDIT: She's up to 71, so we should be okay. She just went back for more dry food. I've got to leave here shortly but I think she'll be fine. Much stronger reaction to that dose than I expected but she may have been lower than I thought she was too. I just opened some new strips up so they may be a problem. Will double-check readings for a while, I think.
 
Test youself to verify the meter and strips are okay. Had to do that a few times when I doubted mine.
