I got a little busy yesterday afternoon and didn't get midcycle tests in, so I'll try to be better today. I think she's definitely having a flareup of pancreatitis. She's sucking up fluids as fast as I give them to her, and she's not happy if I press on her tummy. I gave her some buprenorphine which should help. She's eating, so the anzemet is helping, though it is taking some encouragement because the slightest noise sends her running away from the bowl (this is common behavior for her when she's hurting). The buprenex should help with that as well as with her appetite since pain also can make a cat inappetant. Despite it all, she's gained back all the weight she lost so that's good. I think part of the drop wasn't eating but simply dehydration, so it is good I'm giving fluids now. That should help with her kidneys anyway, even though her creatinine at this point isn't that high. I've got her up to 0.9U -- not sure what her nadir is getting to though, but with the pancreatitis and infection not sure how well we'll do there anyway. At least she's staying in the 200s, so that's progress. I'm really glad I'm on t.i.d. because I think she'd be off the charts high otherwise.

6/19 PMPS = 253, gave 0.9U
+7 = 217
6/20 numbers:
AMPS = 273, gave 0.9U
+5 = 262 (missed the nadir...)
MDPS = 343, gave 0.9U
+3 = 194 (as I suspected, a very early nadir! Will check again in an hour, but doubt it will be much better)
PMPS = 354, gave 0.9U

Awwwwwwwwww. Hopefully she'll have a good day with that Bupe in her. :dizcat

Seriously though, I hope she is feeling better soon. :YMHUG:

Thanks, Joanna. She did eat fairly well as the mid-day meal and didn't run away from her bowl this time, though she's starting and stopping eating so it takes a lot of hovering to ensure she finishes and that her brother doesn't get the food (contains ursodiol, so I definitely don't want it in him as it needs to be in her!). I do think the bupe helped. It just makes her calmer. Wish it made her feel perky like your kitty gif though! She's supposed to get her blood tests again tomorrow, which means an AM fast. Ugh. I don't even want to guess what her glucose will be by the time we can get food into her. I'd take it to the clinic but I doubt she'll eat the way she's feeling. She feels a little warm right now, so it will be good to see how her temp is as she often runs a fever when this flares up. We've managed in the past without needing to put her on IVs. Hope we can do so this time.
