Will try to do another curve today, as she was back over 600 this AM. She seems to be feeling better though is still skittish and jumpy, and that's typical for her when she's hurting. I also noticed her grunting yesterday when I picked her up, so my guess is that her belly is getting more tender. I have to take her back to the vet as he wanted to re-test PCV and if she wasn't entirely better or PCV was still low, he wanted to do additional tests.

Should I adjust dose yet? Would like to see those numbers come down some if we could before I leave the country. (edit -- well, not much of a mini-curve today. Too busy, plus Shaikha was getting tired of getting her ears poked. Can't say I blame her. Still, her numbers today don't seem to have done that low. Will be interesting to see her PMPS.)

AMPS = >600, gave 1.5U
+3.5 = 346
+8 = 320
PMPS = 438 (done at +11.5), gave 1.8U

Re: Shaikha AM & PM PS + mini-CURVE

I think you could go up to 1.75u. It looks like the 2u was doing pretty good for her, she was coming down in PS's until she got sick so if you go in between and hold there she might see some better numbers.

How do you measure that precisely in a U100 syringe? Right now, I use a smidge over the 3.5 mark to get her to 1.5, since 3.5 exactly = 1.4U and 4 exactly= 1.6. To get 1.75U, I'd have to go a teeny smidge under the 4.5 mark since that equals 1.8U. I find it easier to measure in the U100 syringes than the U40s (plus they are cheaper), but measuring such tiny amounts is difficult.

Okay, that's much easier, both for me and for my friend who will watch her while I'm away. She wasn't out of the 300s when I checked her today, but I also didn't catch the nadir. That said, my guess is that she didn't really go that low given how high she was at the start of the day.

I increased her to 1.8U after her PM meal and will see how she looks tomorrow. Hopefully we won't be back over 600 again. Too many reds and blacks lately so am hoping for better control tomorrow. Thanks again for your help!

You actually had a pretty good day with the exception that it was too high.

I wonder what is happening at night that drives her AMPS up.

I wish I knew. No change in diet or anything else, and she is an inside-only kitty so she isn't roaming around. I don't see any change in activity level either. It is a puzzle.
