Good Afternoon. Last Condo 10/31

Shadow is still enjoying the falls... so far I would say the Adequan really makes a difference for her. She's just a creaky middle aged girl. I think she would
play more if we didn't have droolers. They come observe her when she starts playing. They would so like to join... sorta.
But they know she'll attack if they bother her too much.
She is just the one to be in awe of.... after all, she gets treats when they don't. ( nevermind that they get theirs in the morning)
She gets to sit up in a chair at the dinner table if she so chooses and is actually offered a bite of cheese rather than having to wait until it drops on the floor.
They are so fascinated by her "specialness" and of course, jealous too.

My family and my dd's fiancé's family spent the last week with some cold viral bug.... my dd had it the worst. My DH and DS had a bout too but we thought
theirs might be a touch of food poisoning. ( hard to say which)
And I somehow managed not to get it. ( that's never happened before since my immune system isn't the best)

Things are about to be good and bad .
My DM is back in the hospital in College Station, Tx with more hypoxia issues and she doesn't have a DNR so they might start putting her on life support.
She currently is sedated because she won't leave the cpap on. She hates that. She has aphasia ... and can't communicate well at all.
My DGM is the one who was taking care of her but doesn't recognize when she's getting worse. A visiting nurse called the ambulance.

According to the nurse in the ccu for my DM, the dr says she can not go home this time since she didn't take care of herself these past couple of weeks.
(supposed to use her nebulizer 4x a day and barely did once a day)
So.... this may be it.
She's stable for now but the chatter is that they are setting her up ( as I requested 2 weeks ago) to get transported out to me and go in our rehab facility
and then slide into the nursing home. We have a great place in our own little town.
My DGM will live with us. She doesn't need much help.

The ugliest part is they have two Pomeranians (not housebroken) that I am currently chatting with a pom rescue down there to take the dogs.
That's so difficult for them of course.
I would be beside myself if I were in that situation and being told I had to give up Shadow.
I have to be patient and sweet about their dogs as best I can. I have good days and bad days with that.

I'm looking forward to having my DGM. Apprehensive about how this will play out for my DM.
And the rest is all just hassle. The physical moving is the least of the worry.

So things could be good in the long run but it has to play out.
I am so Thankful that Shadow is doing good right now.

Happy Thanksgiving , my friends.

Re: 11/27 Shadow OTJ 69 and family woes

Looks like you're going through a lot of drama right now Rhiannon. I know the feeling! :YMHUG:

I've been trying to find a rescue to take my mom's 2 dachshunds for about a week. They've been at the kennel since Aug 22nd and besides the fact she can't afford to continue keeping them there, it's not fair to the dogs either. They're older and have some "issues" that make it even more difficult to rehome, but I absolutely can't take them and neither can my kids or my brother.

It's breaking her heart to give them up, but it's the only choice at this time. She won't be able to go home at least until next spring, and maybe not even then. (if I have anything to say about it, she won't go back to her home then either..it's just too far away for me to feel comfortable with her being alone there)

It's never easy being a parent to a parent, is it?

Glad to see Shadow is still enjoying life at the Falls!! That's one worry off your mind!!

Re: 11/27 Shadow OTJ 69 and family woes

I'm glad Shadow is doing so well :-D . I'm sorry to hear about your DM, I hope it all works out for you. It's so hard to even think of giving up our fur babies  I hope you have a good Thanksgiving despite all the worries. Hugs to Shadow! :YMHUG: And you of course ;-)

((((Rhiannon)))),
You certainly have a lot on your plate. We hope that all will work out with your DM and that you will be able to find a good home for her dogs.
Good girl, Shadow, for being there to cheer up your mamabean as she deals with her family!

Wishing you and yours a good Thanksgiving.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

(((((Rhiannon))))) I hope you can get your DM's situation sorted out. That's great there is a place near you. It's sad about the dogs, I'm sure that will work out too. Still things to be thankful for, Shadow doing well and you not getting sick. Yay! It's cute to hear how Shadow rules everything.  Have a happy Thanksgiving!
Liz

Well... Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

It looks like my DM isn't choosing the NM rehab.... she wants to go to the one there in College Station.
I hope she survives the next bout of hypoxia since she doesn't do the therapy things at home.
The family has decided that if (and when) she goes in the hospital again, (after this coming rehab stint) we won't give her any choices. We'll just move my DGM out here.
My DGM has never been able to hold her ground and say, it's time for change.

I hope everyone has a Great Day.

Shadow looks great so I'm happy the adequan is helping her!

Sending many healing thoughts to your family and especially to your DM. I'm so sorry she's dealing with this again.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

((((Rhiannon)))) sorry to hear about the drama in your family. It's so hard being the parent to the parent. But it will be nice to have your DGM near you. Here's hoping next Thanksgiving gives you more to be thankful for and together with your family. :YMHUG:

Shadow is doing wonderfully, great numbers and queen of the furkids. :-D

well....
it's a Thanksgiving miracle.

My mother has announced in the last hour that she Will come to New Mexico. flip_cat
My DGM gets to live with us and be taken care of.... and I will take her out practically every day to sit with my DM for a few hours.
My DM will get to become like a library book where we can check her out and then give her back. Someone else will get to change the sheets 5x a day.

I always have lots to be thankful for.....
but this has us all flabbergasted. It's been a point of contention for years.

My DM has been enabled for her entire life by my DGM and never been able to think past herself.
This is a great blessing!

Great news Rhiannon! Now that's something to be thankful for :-D Hope things just keep getting better and better over there! And good job to Shadow too! Hope she's getting a special nibble for being such a good girl!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!!! :-D
