@Critter Mom @tiffmaxee

All went well today except for Blaze not eating as much this morning...Shot done, he is sleeping. Fingers crossed we have good numbers today.

I have 2 more days left until I am back to work full time. I hope things will be ok, I am starting to worry.

I am gonna go back to bed for another couple of hours until I test him.

I hope your day is going well. I will continue to post a thread today and tomorrow...Starting Tuesday, I won't be able to anymore (in the morning). I hope you can continue to look over Blaze's numbers. If anything changes or there is an emergency I will definitely ask for help.

I completely understand the worry. I go back in a week, as well. I didn't immediately buy into the idea of an automatic feeder, I'll be honest, but it has been worth the investment. It sounds like your Blaze doesn't always eat with gusto in the morning either, just like my Milo. So, now, based on his numbers I add different carb foods to each of the sections (making sure the first few feeds are the more appealing FF low-carb or medium-carb), depending on what I think his cycle will look like. My feeder is a C-500 Cat-Mate with 5 sections, cooler packs that keep food cold and a digital timer. He has taken to it well and it gives me peace of mind that he has plenty of options throughout the day and he can't just finish it all in one sitting, if he chooses. You may want to consider it.... just a suggestion.
Good luck with Blaze.

My civvie, Lúnasa, has CKD (IRIS stage 3). She was started on a blood pressure med a couple of days ago. This morning her blood pressure went a bit low because one of the side effects of the med is to make a cat urinate more and my little one ended up dehydrated. (Put the heart crossways in me, was worried I might lose her for a bit...)

Went into situation management overdrive and succeeded in getting her to drink a fair amount of fluids throughout the day and her BP is back in a better range. Had that not been the case she'd have had to go to the vets to be put on a drip. The blood pressure med has worn off and she's much better now, thank God. Now that the immediate worry has passed the shock is hitting me a bit and I'm feeling quite queasy and shaky, to be honest. Thank you for asking. :)

Yes sounds good. What's worries me the most is not being able to test from 7:45 (when i leave from work) am to 3:45 pm (when I get home).

If you find you are too worried (and add to that the new protocols for in-school learning), you can always move your shot time earlier. A few people set an alarm, shoot very early in the morning, and then go back to bed. It would look something like this:

No food after 3 a.m.
Get up at 5 a.m., test, food, shoot. Go back to bed for an hour or however long.
Test when you wake up. Test 20 minutes before you head out the door.

Then you shoot again at 5 p.m. and have enough time to get some tests in and still get some sleep.

Just a thought.

I know. That’s the hard part. I think for now the goal ought to be to keep him no lower than 100. If he starts to give you a lower amps is when it gets problematic and you might need to decrease. When you have enough data and are sure he will eat it will be easier.

I like Kel’s idea if you do.You seem to be able to go back to sleep easily.

That would work for if I didn't have trouble going back to sleep once I wake up...i need to be alert at work and that is not feasible for me. I wish I could though...

How will I ever be able to have his sugar regulated to an acceptable and safe green...i want him to stay in the blue as well while i am gone so that i know he won't hypo...but this way he will continue to experience the effects of diabetes....he is constantly drinking and peeing and still losing weight.
I want to help him and it is so frustrating...i need to win the lottery and quit my job.

Unfortunately i don't...when I test overnight i lay on my couch and put the alarm...but i don't really sleep...i am aware of the upcoming test...i close my eyes but nothing much happens

The weight loss is due to his reduced appetite. I don’t think that’s from diabetes. His bg is at an acceptable level, under renal threshold. He should be not peeing and drinking as much if he stays where he is.

Yes you are. It’s a lot to handle all at once and also starting the new year. What grade do you teach?

Yes the new reality of how teaching has become creates anxiety.
I am a music specialist and teach jk-5 music. This year i will be covering a lot of kindergarten regular classes as well
Because i am a rotary teacher, i will be exposed to more than 100 children a day. They put me on a cart. My music room has become storage because they want to reduce the movement of the students im the hall. So instead of them coming to me, i will go in all of their classrooms.
