Selecting New Cat Food

I try to read through posts before asking questions. I am trying to select a new dry food. It is not my diabetic cat's main meals but he will have access as I have another cat (will be her main food) in the house. So they are both going to change food to better fit the diabetic diet. I read here somewhere that Wysong Epigen is not complete. I went back to their website and it reads "Epigen™ is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog and Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for Maintenance."
It says the same for Wysong Epigen 90. I am wondering if what I read on here was incorrect or am I missing something? If I am, please feed me knowledge. I've never had to delve this far into cat food & I don't know tons. Or would one of these be sufficient to feed as a complete feed?

To set spreadsheet sharing permission:
* At the top right of the spreadsheet screen click on Share.

* In the pop-up dialog box click on the Get Link section.

* Change link access from 'Restricted' to 'Anyone with the link' and make sure that the permission on the right hand side is set to 'Viewer'.

Also can you add to your signature what your kitty is eating, is it wet low carb only or combo ( wet lc and kibble). Add the meter you are using also.
Just tap on your name up top then tap on signature add add that information :cat:

I am having to fix a mistake I made. It was on there but then found I had saved it to my husband's work drive as I had to use his tablet...and everyone in the company could see a file named Fluffy...OOPS! Lol. I will be replacing it, hopefully by end of weekend.

It may be possible that Wysong changed their formulation. The food chart that we refer to was last updated in 2016. If I'm remembering correctly, at one point, the Wysong food did not contain taurine which is essential for cat health. Also, as an FYI, I ran a quick calculation on the carb content. It's around 11%. Some of the other dry foods (i.e., Dr. Elseys, Young Again Zero Carb) are lower in carbs. There are also some freeze dried and air dried raw foods (e.g., Stella & Chewy's, ZiwiPeak).

We generally encourage members to use canned food for their cat. Cats do not have a high thirst drive. In the wild, they get most of the moisture they need from the live prey they eat. Dry food has very little moisture content. In addition, it can easily spoil due to a high fat content. This is a link to a great website on feline nutrition if you want to do a bit of reading.

Thank you for this. I do have him on a main diet of canned food. I have a current house cat that he will end up being able to reach her food so I am switching her main food to a much lower carb diet (dry). I was able to contact Wysong in regard to their dry food, they were good in getting back with me. They confirmed the dry is a complete feed, taurine is 0.2%. I think the canned food version is not complete. If it's helpful to anyone who may read this thread (on a dry matter basis):
Wysong Epigen: Protein-63.1% Carb-5.5%
Wysong Epigen 90: Protein-65.6% Carb-5.3%
Optimal Vitality: Protein-53.1% Carb-12.1%
Epigen 90 did not have protein from other sources than meat. This seems like a viable option for those who have a need to feed dry. They offer samples on their website, I just ordered so I am hoping mine are agreeable with it.

@Hollyberry

I had to start over but I think I got the spreadsheet figured out. And I added the suggested info to my signature :-)
