Hello everyone,

posting this question for someone else, not for my girl. I have no experience with the condition.

I personally have developed an aversion to the Hill's Foods brand in general and whenever I see a sickly kitty is fed it I cannot help thinking that vet's and sale's reps wallets are to benefit more than the cat patient. Of course I might be wrong - done it before :):oops:

The SDMA is whooping 27...

If the k/d Hills i the way to go please just say so... I am only trying to help someone and my bias against Hills is in the way so I really, really appreciate to hear what you seasoned folks think about it.

Tanya, there are instances where K/D is appropriate, like end stage kidney disease.

With an SDMA that high, that may very well be the case here.

I've read her post and it looks like she's doing pretty much everything she can. Hopefully she can get some of those numbers down

She should really post the blood work on there & she will get tons of feedback about diet, meds, supplements etc.

If her cat's teeth are that bad, the bacteria from the dental disease is likely contributing to the spike in her renal values. It's a catch 22 because now the kidney values are high but the cat has bad dental disease contributing to it. Several in the FB group have had dentals done on cats with high kidney values for that reason. She also has to be very careful of using Metacam with high kidney values, to me that is almost more risky than putting the kitty under anesthesia.
Again, those in that FB group will have tons of advice. There's a list on Tanya's site as well (www.felinecrf.org) of low phosphorus foods that can be fed instead of the Hills KD. And Tanya's site is also a wealth of information.
