Lantus may give you an overall lower curve, with less range between the high and low values, so less variability in bg during the interval.
The curve you're doing today starts with a high of 429 and so far has a low of 107. That is a range of 322 points. I suspect that if you look at some of the stable Lantus cats (not mine) you'll see a smaller range.

I would print off some of the Lantus stickies so he will see that you have done your research and are ready to use a new insulin. This one explains the protocol and mentions a veterinary journal article. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/view ... f=9&t=1581 You will have your spreadsheet so you can show him you have been testing carefully and still are getting high preshot numbers with N.
