Morning all. Bad night for me, sick with the flu. Very sick and didn't get any testing done after +2.

Had to go get a new meter last night though. When I tested Scratchie at PMPS - his number on right ear ws 494 (never been that high), but his left ear was 434 (within less than 10 seconds) Tested again about 30 minutes later and there was a 100 point difference between his two ears. Tested mine and it was over 200 which is normally 100 or less. Made me question if the meter was bad so I went and got another one. Then the fever/chills and throwing up started for me so I didn't test again. Last Sunday when I was testing him, I accidentally dropped the meter I had been using in the commode. Went out and bought another one thought we were good until those numbers last night. I tested the new meter on myself last night before testing Scratchie and mine showed 100, instead of the 200+ it had shown previously.

Could there be that much difference between the two ears within seconds of one another? I know there can be a small variance, but that large? Let me know your thoughts please.

Another question - why does his bg go up every time we have an increase??

Testing my bg and it was 211 which is not right!
+2 = 311 (can't remember if I had the new meter for this or not - I was pretty sick)
AMPS = 311 (new meter)
+2.5 325

Dare I ask if you've gotten DH to try to test yet? ( i'm so heartless )
The testing part isn't so difficult, it's generally teaching kitty to sit still for new people.

I can see you may be calling in sick tomorrow :smile: so that will give you another day to work with him.
He should be even more willing now with you feeling so poorly. I hope you take advantage.
Even though you are feeling like crap.... the work week will take you soon enough and you want him ready , willing and able. :roll:

It does sound like your old meter has gone wonky on you.
And you always want a back up meter so you should grab another one when you are able so you have 2 good working ones. extra batteries too.

I have gotten odd different numbers testing one after the other.
But since it was so very wrong on your own number, I think that's the best indicator that it didn't survive the water dunking.

Glad that means Scratchie hasn't been as high as his old meter was indicating.....

Thanks Rhiannon, I know that was a stupid question - after all it is NDW I guess.

The meter that I dunked in the commode, I did replace so it was the second meter that went wonky yesterday. I thought something was wrong with his numbers showing so high, yet he wasn't acting like his numbers were high! He was playing in the curtains, running around with his toys, it was just weird! I figured something was up - glad I checked myself with the meter.

DH is going to work on testing with me today. He doesn't want to but I told him he has to! Hopefully he'l get the hang of it today! Keep paws crossed for me.
