Two weeks OTJ!!! She is playing with her catnip mice, terrorizing her sister, and generally being her happy, wonderful self. Pull up a chair, grab a Tunatini, drinking09 and if I don't bore you too much, read the story of how we got here...

Storytime.... laptop_smiley

Scout was not herself in December and January... limping, lethargic, unhappy. The vet thought she'd hurt her knee and gave her cortisone. She got a little better but not much. Then on January 16th, I got home to empty food and water bowls for the second day in a row, and something clicked in my brain. Diabetes. I got out my glucometer and tested Scout. She came up high. I cried and cried... she's only 9! I was so afraid I'd lose her. Then I got on the internet and found this site, and it gave me hope that she would live a long, normal life.

Her vet put her on 3U PZI, which I immediately reduced to 2U with good results. Her vet also sold me Purina DM wet and dry food, which I fed her freely. After the folks here told me to take away her crunchies, I put the dry food bowl on the desk so my civvie Nipper could eat it. I remember telling my friend "it may as well be on the moon as far as Scout's concerned." WRONG. After a week of up and down readings, and recuded insulin doses, I caught her red...pawed? So now both kitties are on the Catkins diet, wet Evo and Blue and Purina DM only. And since then, she's had no insulin! Most mornings, her BG is lower than mine, the little show-off!

So thank you all for being here, for giving great advice, for encouraging me, for telling me you're in the same boat, and most of all... for caring about Scout. :YMHUG:

Gratuitous cat pics...

That's me and Akbah and Hannah all sitting in a row slurping on cold fish (gah)

Glad Akbah, Hannah, and Curt have joined the party! Scout is a happy kitty today, I woke up this morning with her lying on my side, purring in my ear. Not sure but that may have been a subtle hint that she wanted breakfast!!

Another round of tunatinis for our newly regulated kitties and their civvie sisters :)

And a round of Appletinis for us humans!
