I am thrilled to report that my little Scout hasn't had insulin in a week! In the past week, her BG has ranged from 51 to 167 with an average of 108. That is plenty good enough for me - she should have no long term complications if she maintains these numbers, correct?
***Her recovery exactly coincided with when I removed all dry food from the house.***
She was eating Purina DM dry and various low carb wet foods at first. Then I put the dry food on the desk (I figured it may as well be on the moon as far as she was concerned, but she proved me wrong and managed to get up onto the desk!) Once I removed the dry food completely, BOOM. Greens and blues. You can see the difference in her numbers in my spreadsheet. What you can't see is that she's running around, playing with her sister, generally being a nuisance, and is way less gimpy than she was a month ago.
I have you guys to thank for this. If I hadn't found this site, I would have continued to feed the Purina DM as my vet recommended. So THANK YOU ALL!!! Here's hoping we'll be having an OTJ party a week from now.
