Well, you all haven't heard from me for a while because I've been sitting back quietly praying, fingers crossed that Schroeder is in official remission. I want to thank all of you out there who offered their support, encouragement, suggestions, and expertise. Schroeder was diagnosed in October with numbers so high the meters wouldn't read numbers. It just said "Hi".... His fur was in terrible shape, his skin was flakey, he lost 2.5 pounds over the next month. Within that time I was told by a friend about this message board. I got Schroeder off the dry food entirely (and he still is, both cats are), and started BG testing right away. I believe this enabled me to stablize him faster, within that 4 month window that seems to be so important if cats are to stand a good chance of going into remission. Schroeder's weight is back on, his skin is back to normal, his fur has never looked so healthy. And more incredibly, he has started playing like young cat. I've never seen him with so much energy.

I will continue to check his BG once a month, and will continue to visit this message board to lend support to those who come after me. Your help is so important to the newbies, and I'd like to support however I can.

Andrea.

What great news! I'm so happy for the both of you! Every time I see Schroeder I can't help but think how much he and Sam look alike. And to hear you say how well he's doing gives me great hope!
