Hi Dianne,
I'm sorry to read that Savannah hasn't been feeling well and is reluctant to eat. I hope you and your vet can get her healthy again. The food tips you got yesterday may work. A sprinkle of FortiFlora usually works because it contains "animal digest"--one of the principal ingredients in dry food.

Hang in there. Lots of healing and eating vines on the way,

Ella & Rusty

Here's your link to your previous condo: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=109981&p=1161431#p1161431

I'd encourage you to discuss the anti-inflammatory with your vet. He may not be using a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID), but please ask. These can be hugely problematic and if Savannah's renal values are off, it this was my cat, I'd be asking about alternatives or at least having a discussion of what the risks are. Like I mentioned earlier, glucosamine may be helpful with an irritated bladder although the studies on this topic have not been very well executed.

I'd also ask about urine specific gravity -- although it sounds like there may not have been a large enough sample to get this value. Just as an FYI, dry food can have a negative effect on this value.

If dry is the ONLY way you can get Savannah to eat, there is a zero carb dry food called Young Again. At least this won't contribute to high BG numbers but canned food is probably better. There are high cal food supplements, like Max Cal or Nutri-cal. However, they are high in carbs. You might want to ask your vet about an appetite stimulant like I mentioned in your previous condo.

Thanks all for the additional info on foods/medicine and healing thoughts!

She's such a good girl...just want to help her as best I can.
