Friday 25th May 2018

The woman felt it long before she arrived at the building or entered the room but she said nothing to the man.

The man & the woman spent a good long time together with the very elderly cat but before leaving that evening , the woman returned quietly to the room where the elderly cat lay & whispered special words into his ear.

With the new dawn , the first frost of the year slowly vanished from the old cat’s paddock , his garden, his well worn paths.

The cat lay comfortable & untroubled on the bed that was not his, so far & yet not far at all from the woman ; his home - his garden - his paddock.

He maybe gave the slightest of sighs, feeling the touch of his senses one last time as his mind & body gave thanks for his good long life but said no. No more todays thank you.

The woman opened her eyes as the frost faded away.

The world had stopped.

I’ve been off the board a while as we were in Scotland but I was so very, very sad to come back and see that Ty had crossed. What an extraordinary mom you were to him and he was a fighter. I read, with tears, your post of how you picked up his ashes the same day as your mum had passed in 1997.

Many wishes of peace to you and our condolences. They have such little bodies but such enormous spirits that leave profound holes in our hearts and our lives.
