Sailor 6 days with no insulin

Hello all, I was wondering if you might have a look at Sailor’s spreadsheet. His BG numbers have been low the last couple of weeks and he’s not had any insulin for six days now. I was reluctant to shoot when his numbers were low and I would be leaving the house for the day. I’m terrified that he’ll go hypo when I’m not home. Is this what remission looks like? He’s eating nothing but Friskies Pate (prefers the Friskies) or Fancy Feast pate. I also leave out a bowl of Dr. Elsey’s chicken flavor kibble for the kitties to snack on. He’s pretty much stopped urinating outside the box and isn’t drinking as much water. I’d appreciate your thoughts please. Thanks so much. We wouldn’t be here without the advice and support from all of you!

It looks like he might not need insulin. If he goes 14 days withiut he’s diet controlled. You want to see mostly numbers mostly under 100. If you get a test at either amps or PMPS that over 110 , get another test 2-3 hours after eating and see if the BG comes down. That means the pancreas is working. Otherwise test like you have been for another 8 days. Good luck.

As Wendy mentioned, Sailor might need just a drop..

Would you be able to post a new thread today like this: 10/21 Sailor AMPS ### - low numbers, need dosing advice.

It'll help get more eyes on your condo and more folks will chime in with ideas and suggestions for how to handle this. Sailor is certainly a handsome fellow and his numbers look quite good...just a little more and I think you could get him across the finish line to OTJ!

One thing that would be very helpful is to get a couple more tests at night. The thing with these kitties is usually the highest BG's are at AMPS and PMPS - I'd be curious to see how low he's going mid-cycle; that is of course if he's getting a few drops of 'the juice'.

Looking forward to seeing your new condo today :)

It scares me to give insulin when he’s low and then I leave for work. What if he drops and goes hypo while I’m at work? I don’t mind giving him insulin otherwise, I don’t think he eene notices the shot. It’s the hypo while he’s alone that scares me.

Why don't you try that tiny bit at night? As long as you can get a test a few hours later before bed, and see what he's doing.
