AMPS = 358 @ 8:00AM

Fed/ate 1-1/2 cans FF after AMPS Segregated from civvies until they are done eating.

1.25 units @ 8:20AM

293 @ 10:20AM (+2) Gave/ate PureBites Chicken treats after test.
172 @ 12:20PM (+4) Gave/ate PB Chicken treats after test.
 
Good numbers but still higher than ideal. What would you and others think about upping the dose a little? I am comfortable with a dose increase during the day because you can monitor. More nervous about the pm dose as you can only get a midcycle sometimes and then you can't stick around. But it is not ideal to be shooting a full .5 unit more am than pm......

Ideas?

I hope someone comes up with some suggestions.

You are right about upping the pm dose...It could be scary if I got a way-too-low number at 1:30AM or 2:00AM.
I wish equal doses at AM and PM would be doable.

Another thing I wish (yeah...I know....keep on 'wishing') is that she could have food 3 times a day....I know that would really mess with her numbers though. She is soooooo hungry in the morning and at supper time that it is difficult to get her to sit still for testing.....her body is yelling NO TESTS NOW....WANT FOOD NOW.

Rather than only a mid-day, what about the regular meal @ shot time and a mini meal at +3ish?
 
I could go along with a dose increase during the day when you will be there to monitor, as long as your PS is in the mid to upper 300's. Maybe fatten it up but no more than .25u increase.

But I'd stick with the 1.25u on a mid 200 like yesterday.

Rob...I see what you are saying. AMS would be up to 1.5 units max. if PS = mid-upper 300s'. Geeee....wish I could her to use LESS insulin. Guess that will take lots more time. :YMSIGH:


BJM...Just so I understand....you mean her normal 1-1/2 cans FF after AMPS test then maybe 1/4 can @ +3ish then her normal 1-1/2 cans FF after PMPS test? When I look back at her ss during the time period that I was giving 1 tsp FF as treat after tests during the day, numbers were higher than when I started giving the PureBites Chicken treats after tests. Thinking any "food" during the day is going to make numbers goofy (goofier) again. I feel bad for her because she is soooooo hungry in AM & PM....she is always 'scoping around' during the day looking for a morsel that might be left on the floor or counter or anywhere else.
 
Yes, and before you leave for work.

It would keep her from getting so hungry.

.5 would be okay, especially if you can't monitor. If you can get that midcycle number, you could give a little more. (it's almost 300). Whatever you are comfortable with.
 
Already did 0.5 units @ 8:30PM. I cannot count on me getting my butt out of bed early enough for work to test before I leave. I never know if I am going to oversleep....I do not have anyone to call me at that horrific hour of the night/morning (???) to make sure I am up.
