runny poop

hello, this morning i upped the dose of insulin from .5 to .75 and now he has diarhea and walking issues....can it be the insulin or the food? he gets fancy feast turkey and giblets and chicken feast, both classic, but i gave him beef and chicken earlier

Good to hear from you. I am not sure that a small increase like that would have that sort of effect but hopefully others can advise.

Was the onset of the walking and diarrhoea sudden. Did they start at the same time?

What is the walking issue? Is he weak? Had anyone mentioned supplementing with vitamin b MethylCobalamin to help with diabetic neuropathy? Did the vet test potassium levels the last time you went. This can also cause weakness and my cats levels got worse once he actually started on the insulin.

hi ! yes it started like an hour ago...i ordered the supplements already but havent recieved them yet...no the vet only tested for diabetes and someother thing, cant remember
...the problem with his leg is that it kinda goes sideways when he walks, wobbly
im thinking it was probably the food, hadnt given him any beef and i gave him earlier this week and now he is getting dandruff again, so im thinking of staying away from it from now on
 
I'm not very experienced with diarrhoea remi is always bunged up. It could be a change in food, or if he got hold of something he shouldn't?? Hopefully others can offer advice.

Hopefully the supplements will arrive soon and you can start them. This should help with neuropathy as will getting better control over the glucose levels. If it doesn't then I would ask the vet to test for potassium.
 
i will have to take him in and also call to get information on what other test they did to him when i took him in...little bugger is still hungry so im pretty sure that is a good sign:joyful:
 
Yes cats do get these things now and again and it doesn't seem to bother them. With regards the diarrhoea I would get concerned if it was happening a lot in one day or if it went on for an extended period. At the movement I am imagining it is just a looser motion than normal?
 
What I mean is that he went to the litter box and has had one loose motion rather than you found lots of really runny diarrhoea and not necessarily just in the litter box?
 
he did in the litter and then he got out and about 10 minutes later he went back in and it was runny and watery and he got it in his leg but he is now sleeping and hasnt been to litter...hopefully that will be all and no more runny.....i had to crawl after him and wipe him...he was not happy
 
Oh I know about the cleaning thing. It's amazing how they seem to manage to move their tush so you can't clean it.

I have read a few comments about treating diarrhoea and have seen suggestions about using live yoghurt and fortiflora.
 
Forti Flora is a probiotic for cats. It helps restore normal bacteria in the GI tract. It is in an animal digest base, so many cats find it very tasty and it may be used to spur appetite.
