Hello everyone!

I've just started reading IS TIGHT REGULATION POSSIBLE WITH A FULL TIME JOB?.

Can someone please tell me what running down the dosing scale means?

Thank you!

With some cats, you hit what is a "good" dose and the numbers seem to magically turn to green. With dat, there are successive dose reductions that often occur rather quickly. Practically speaking, it may mean that you end up skipping a shot or taking a larger reduction than is typically indicated in order to get the depot to get caught up with the dose. (Remember, Lantus is a depot type of insulin and the depot can be over-filled.)

With Lantus, when the insulin is injected, it forms micro crystals that are deposited in the fat tissue. These mostly dissolve over the course of the cycle. However, a small amount remains and continues to dissolve into the next cycle, The insulin the same thing happens over successive cycles making the depot what amounts to a storage tank. When you increase the dose, it takes the depot a few cycles to catch up to the dose increase. The same is true in the opposite direction -- when you decrease the dose, there's still a bit too much insulin in the depot compared to the new, lower dose. As a result, the depot is "over filled."

Hi, does it generally take 3 days or 7 days for the dose to match the depot?

When you first state using a depot insulin, it takes 5 - 7 days for the depot to form. Thereafter, it takes roughly 3 days for a dose to stabilize. However, this can be an ECID thing. With TR, the doses are held for 3 days but TR is a more aggressive approach to dosing. Doses are held for a week with SLGS.
