Let's see how today goes. I think you need a new scale with some in between .25 and .5 choices. Do you have the U100 needles? Would you be willing to try using them with the chart? It means checking every time with the chart to be sure you are giving the right amount, but it would let us fine tune the dose.

She is in pretty good numbers and I know your life is crazy. If you'd rather continue with your current patterns/doses, that would be good too.

I only have 10 of the U100's which I save for really goofy doses if I need them....using the conversion chart.

Have lots of U40's. I can eyeball doses quite well using these....even when it comes to using 'drops' if needed.

These inverse curves are something I would really like to correct. It is going on 6 months since she was diagnosed and I am doing everything possible to at least get her in the BLUE numbers more consistently. Patience Pants Where Are You????

I spend most of my day trying to figure out what I should be doing next + feeding 7 cats Friskies (they follow me and stare at me every time I go anywhere near the kitchen...they are all spoiled now...I spend more $$$ on cat food every week than I do on my own food) + testing + cleaning RumpelT's litter box (yeah....she claims a certain one for herself) which is loaded with pee every few hours + reading the forum for clues. My life is consumed with diabetic kitty and wet-food-spoiled civies. :roll:

I know this sugardance thing comes down to a trial-and-see-what-happens-next kind of thing, but I only wish for some stability in what dose gets her into good numbers on a more consistent basis.

I will be needing more insulin within the next week or so and I know my vet will want me to bring her in for a check-up at that time YUK!!! She has not been to the vet since she was diagnosed in February and I would not look forward to more $$$ spent on tests there. If I do my own curve and take it to vet, I don't even know if she will accept it. Might not give me insulin if I don't bring her in for check-up...I really don't know.

Tested before work
275 @ 1:10AM

AMPS = 265 @ 8:00AM

0.25 unit @ 8:30AM

246 @ 12:30PM (+4)
322 @ 3:30PM (+7)

Today doesn't look so inverse. She went up at +7 but she had been lower earlier. And yes, that is the kind of stuff that drives us crazy! It would be easier if her patterns were more consistent.

Tomorrow morning, assuming you get a similar number to today's preshot, how about a little bit more and then get a +3/6/8 or so and see how it looks. If it is definitely inverse, you'll know to lower. If it looks better than today, then the increase was a good idea.

As for the vet, I would tell him that you are sorry but you can't afford eating and a curve at the vet. And you need to eat! Tell him that you will be glad to get any numbers they need anytime during the cycle and bring those in for him to evaluate. And that the visit is because you need more insulin.
