Might be 'high' because when I was getting ready for work, I found her 'nibbling' out of a dry food bowl that was not covered...either I forgot to cover it before I went to bed OR she figured out how to open it ohmygod_smile

Fed FF --- Ate well

Shot 0.75 units @ 7:45AM

When the budget might handle it, the PetMate 5 is a timed feeder which seems to foil kitties.
And what brand of dry is it?

Morning....BJM !!

I would need 7 of those feeders !!!

Dry Food is Purina Naturals.

At least it wasn't as high as yesterday. I will have to put bowls in the cupboard or get chains/padlocks for them. Oh...I just remembered....they DO know how to open cupboard doors....Hmmmm....maybe I need those child-proof things that you install to keep kids out of them. Like I always say....my house is like "A Day-Care Center For Two-Year Olds".

I can see her spreadsheet Misty. Looks like its working fine.

The other thing you could do is get everyone in the house on wet food, it is better for them anyway, but I know first hand how hard it is to do.

Our sugar cat Asher has a brother that was very addicted to dry and it took a good month to switch him over, but we did it. We put a little chicken broth on the wet food and when he got hungry he eventually ate and got used to it. I just knew with our weird schedule, we'd have to get both cats on wet and feed twice a day. They eat out of each other's dishes and there isn't much we can do to stop that. Some folks here spread a little dried forta flora (sp?) on the wet food to get dry addicted cats to eat it. Parmesean cheese is another trick.

For what it's worth....

Morning....donna!

I tired to get everyone on wet food, but 2 of them barf after they eat it. One of those 2 is especially bad with the 'barf-issue'....she is an older cat and always had 'tummy-issues'....even barfs occasionally from the only dry food she will eat and has been eating for years. I have tried other dry foods over the years, but, will only eat/keep down Purina Indoor Formula. My rugs need to be shampooed real bad .... spring-cleaning  I have beige carpeting and there are still stains from cat food that had red-coloring in it.....at least the Indoor Formula doesn't leave stains.

Abrupt food transitions frequently cause GI upset - vomiting &/or diarrhea.

One trick is to do a slow transition over 5 or more days.
Ex
Day 1 - 1 part new to 4 parts old
Day 2 - 2 parts new to 3 parts old
Day 3 - 3 parts new to 2 parts old
Day 4 - 4 parts new to 1 part old
Day 5 - all new

If desired, you can hold each step for a day or two and spread out the time even more.

Grayson was good with cabinets and tupperware cannisters as well. He would find the piece of kibble that rolled under the piece of furniture, so I know where you're coming from. I also have a house-ful of kitties, so he was originally sequestered in the dining room. The other kitties no longer free feed, there are defined meal times, after which the food comes up.

I did buy the Pet-Safe 5. Bought it at Petsmart, but took the online ad for Petco with me, which was only $49 instead of $65... Petsmart matched it! Woo Hoo!!! It is a lifesaver! So if you have a room you can contain RT in, that might be a good option. Canned for all, all the time, was (and is not) in budget at this point! I wish I had more auto-feeders!!!

Sounds good Misty. The carb hangover might take a couple cycles to clear. This too shall pass. Good on ya for doing such a good job with RumpelT.
Have a good night!

I will give this a try. One issue I think I might be having now is that they are all so used to eating whenever they want to...but...now everyone is pretty much on RumpelT's schedule so some of them eat too fast. I have been putting RumpelT in her cat carrier once or twice during the day so I can let the other kittehs eat without her eating their food and messing up her BG's.

BJ gave you excellent info on this, this is very true and I pretty much forgot about it since we did it so long ago ohmygod_smile

Everyone has to figure out what works for them. Kitties are different, homes are set up different, etc. For us, I have no doors on any room here in the house, so I couldn't separate kitties for eating, and free feeding did not work with having one kitty that is a "Hoover" (keeps eating until all food is gone including food that is not his).

You will get your routine set. It takes a little time to just settle in to what you need to do every day for RumpelT, then figure out what works best for your situation.

As they say in Jamaica, "Soon come mon". :-D
