Nice amps. Best of luck at the vet!

Thanks. Wait till they smell the "stinky poopie" stool sample. ohmygod_smile

Printed out my ss to take & will take that insulin that was shipped and cold-pak melted...to see if they can tell by looking at the bottle if it is okay.

Hope she doesn't poop in the carrier on the way there. ohmygod_smile

VET VISIT:

New vet totally blown away when she saw RumpelT's spreadsheet. Could not believe how much detail it had regarding testing/doses/etc. Loved how easy it was to see ranges just by looking at the colors on it. Never saw any one like it before. She was VERY IMPRESSED !!! Thank You FDMB!!! :-D :-D She asked if she could keep it to put in RumpelT's file and I can just bring the updated sheets for her next visit.

Vet was fine with me using human meter. Did not try to push pet meter on me at all. Also did not push me into the 'prescription' food either. Said that I really know what I am doing with food/testing/dosing/etc. Thank You FDMB!!!! :-D :-D

Thyroid test was normal.
Stool sample was normal.
Got FVRCP vaccine. (Was concerned as to why RumpelT did not get one since 2005...there were no notes about that in her old vet file info)

I have to drop off urine sample to check for UTI. Vet gave me white pellets to put in an empty/clean litter box. She said the pellets let kitty do the 'scratch' thing but do not absorb liquid. The urine will be in a puddle so I just have to pour it in the container they gave me and drop it off. We tried to get RumpelT to pee at the vet...didn't want (or have) to....but she pee'd in the carrier on the way home.....go figure.

Said that since I am testing and keeping track of her numbers so well, that I could try the insulin that was shipped to me and arrived warm to see if her numbers show any odd changes. However, she said to wait at least 48 hours to try it because of the FVRCP vaccination. Didn't want to have too many variables going on at once...just what I was thinking.

Said the "stinky BLOB poopies" could be from her all-wet-food diet. I told her that I was giving her yogurt for the probiotics but it wasn't helping. Gave me Proviable paste (probiotic for animals) to try and see if that will help. She said that human probiotics may not have what animals need. I will see how it works.

So far I love this vet. As you can see from the info above, she is 'on the same page' as me regarding RumpelT's FD. Thank You FDMB!!!! :-D :-D

Hurray! That is wonderful news! That she wasn't imtimidated by the spreadsheet is unusual and fantastic! She seems to respect you as a client and understand you have done your homework and are seeing results.

She didn't have any ideas about her still being so hungry when regulated, huh? Wish we could figure that out. Hope the probiotics work with the stinky poos.

All in all, a successful visit. You can feel like you have a partner now!

I owe all my knowledge to FDMB. It was totally awesome to be able to be intelligently-involved with the discussion.

I forget what she said about the ravenous eating...I will take a DUH for that. I will have to call her and/or send them an email (love that they have email for questions) to get my memory refreshed. I am thinking that maybe she just needs more than 1 can Friskies at each meal....civvies get 1/2 to 3/4 can each + they have some dry food. Will try 1-1/2 cans at each meal & see how it goes.

Maybe the more rapid fecal transit time is causing the hunger, because the intestines don't stay filled somewhat.

If her intestinal tract is moving things through faster (causing squishy poos), I am wondering if adding a little bit of unflavored psyllium (fiber, not carb) would help soak up some of the excess fluid, give them form, and slow the transit time a bit.

Oh..yes....the vet did mention something about fiber. Arrrgghh...dummy bean can't remember. Might have been when we were talking about prescription food vs Friskies. Bean had better get back on her ADD meds. :YMSIGH:

What you are saying makes sense. I will give it a try. Will try anything to get rid of the "squishy poos" and decrease hunger.

About 1/8 (a pinch) to 1/4 of a teaspoon mixed well into the food with at least a tablespooon of water.

See Feline Constipation for more info on the feline GI tract and how it functions.
