Should I not give him his evening insulin? He's never done this before. Kind of panicky, because he's normally on 5 units and I know it would be dangerous to give him that on an empty stomach. He ate a few kibbles earlier in the afternoon, but not many. Thanks for any help!

Hi, going to ask some questions first.
  1. What insulin is Rueben on?
  2. Do you home test?
  3. If so, what was his PS reading?
  4. Do you test for ketones?
  5. Can you try another flavour?

He's on Lantus, and no, I don't home test. I put a few small treats on top of his regular food, and he ate! So maybe I should try varying
his food a bit for variety. What panicked me is that normally he is not fussy. Maybe I DID give him too many kibbles too late in the
PM. Thanks so much!

Hi JoUp. Not eating can sometimes be a sign of ketones which can be very dangerous. Since you're not home testing, we don't really have any way of knowing if he's too high, or too low. Please keep an eye on your kitty and if the appetite issues continue, take him to the vet right away to be checked.

If there's any way you would consider home testing, we would be better able to help you.
