I just tested Roy
Last night he was at 8.1 (this was 8:30pm)

This morning I just tested him (8:32am) his # is 5.0
I know he had some FF for breakfast.
This is his 2nd day without insulin.

What to do?
 
5.0 (90) is a wonderful number. It's definitely too low for an insulin shot. Skip the shot and check again tonight.
 
I am soooooooooo sorry. I just checked with my house mate and he did not feed the cats.
So, I am feeding Roy 1/3 can of ff
Should I check him about 15-20 minutes after he has finished chowing down?

Actually that is interesting. He has a lower number before eating. Feed him and get a number in about an hour. Let's see if he comes down after eating.
 
Ok, I checked his #, and it was 4.9
You are right Sue, his number went DOWN after he had eaten.

What to do???
 
What to do? Be happy. A kitty is fine if off insulin he is between 2.2 and 6.6. Those are normal numbers. If he starts sneaking up to above 6.6, then you might have to intervene. But for now, smile!

The fact that he went down after eating means his pancreas is working. :-D
 
I so wish I could do a happy dance....Now I am worried that because he is at 4.9 he will go even lower and I will go into PANIC MODE, and have to do the honey on the gums thing, call Sue up crying my eyes out and my hands shaking like the leaves in the Autumn wind.

I'm known to everyone as a "worrier". Big time.
 
Okay Sue...I read your post after my last post.
I have to go out and I will be out all afternoon (12-5pm)----gotta make some money (I do academic research, etc) and I have to be focused when I do it.
Will Roy be okay for the afternoon?

(I'm feeling guilty already). I think maybe, most of us have felt guilty at one time or another about this whole shebang, especially when one is unsure and has to go out.
 
Also keep in mind that if you haven't given him any insulin he can't go hypo, so go do research and don't worry about it.

What's this? Day 3 without insulin?

I am dying though to check his ketones but never manage to coordinate with him.
